Stefanie Martini has been cast as the young Jane Tennison in the prequel to “Prime Suspect,” the 1990s detective drama created by Lynda La Plante and starring Helen Mirren. The prequel, which has the working title “Tennison,” will be distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
Martini, whose credits include “Doctor Thorne,” “Endeavour” and “Emerald City,” plays Tennison at the start of her London police career in the 1970s. Sam Reid (“Belle,” “The Riot Club”) and Blake Harrison (“Dad’s Army,” “The Inbetweeners”) have been cast as Tennison’s superiors Len Bradfield and Spencer Gibbs.
Alun Armstrong (“New Tricks,” “Little Dorrit”), Ruth Sheen (“Unforgotten,” “Inside No.9”), Lex Shrapnel (“Medici: Masters of Florence”) and Jay Taylor (“Promise”) are cast as crime family members Clifford, Renee, John and David Bentley.

From TWC-Dimension Television (TV), “The Mist” goes into production later this summer and premieres on Spike in 2017.

Nm: Yes, I did attend Mountview. I really enjoyed my training there. It’s a great school and I was fortunate enough to be one of the 30 to have been selected from the few hundred applicants. Becoming an actor has always been my dream. However, it wasn’t until I moved to London that I realized that my dream was possible.
