The Fonz and Captain Kirk on tour! How VIP oldies took over TV

Forget the golden age of television – this is the silver age. And Henry Winkler and William Shatner are far from the only veteran stars boldly going wild for our viewing pleasure

At 71, Henry Winkler shows no signs of slowing down. The former Fonz is a tireless trans-media titan of content creation: acting, producing, racking up self-aware cameos in Adam Sandler movies and launching projects like Hank Zipzer, his semi-autobiographical series of books about a dyslexic schoolboy now adapted into a hit Cbbc series.

At this rate, you half expect Winkler to be fronting a gameshow where contestants are required to waterski over live sharks while wearing a cool leather jacket. But before that inevitable project gets the Fonzie thumbs-up, we must contend with the arrival of his reality travel doc Better Late Than Never. It’s another addition to the expanding genre of VIP pensioner shows headlined by veteran stars.

Tony Haygarth obituary

Distinctive supporting actor on television, stage and film

Tony Haygarth, who has died aged 72, was a salt-of-the-earth Liverpudlian actor who became a familiar face on television in series such as Emmerdale (in which he played Mick Naylor), The Bill and New Tricks, while sustaining a reputation as one of Britain’s most distinctive, and reliable, supporting actors on the main national stages.

In the mid-1990s this reputation became a little more serious when he won Equity’s Clarence Derwent award for his performance as a compromised racetrack commissioner in Sam Shepard’s Simpatico, a wonderful series of duologues in junk towns on the freeway running from Los Angeles to the desert, at the Royal Court; and secured an Olivier award nomination for his magnificent performance as the blustery redneck Juror No 3 in Harold Pinter’s West End revival of Twelve Angry Men.

NCIS: Los Angeles Review: Old Dogs Master New Tricks

Absolutely no offense to the elderly with this week’s title, since this episode shows they are anything but helpless. In fact they’re in much better shape than the members of NCIS, who Nate worries about after everything they went through during the mole investigation. For certain members of the team, the events of the past year have taken their toll. The old spies and veterans on this week’s NCIS: Los Angeles have no time to dwell. For the most part they’ve done it all, seen it all, and aren’t phased by anything less than a national incident. NCIS’s first case

  • TVfanatic

Should Booth have the vasectomy?

Ashley: Well, that depends on what he and Brennan ultimately decide in terms of having more children, but I think he should be open to it if they decide they don't want more children.

Pam: No, they may decide they want more children. There are a few more years where they can or may change their minds and have another one.

Christine: It is a permanent decision so they both need to be sure. But if they do

Bones Season 12 Episode 3 Review: The New Tricks in the Old Dogs

  • TVfanatic
Life is filled with the unexpected.

You never know what might happen next, and if you’re lucky, you just might like it.

Such as when Brennan asked Booth to get a vasectomy on Bones Season 12 Episode 3.

These two have the most interesting conversations in the car.

Booth, why are you covering yourself? I'm not going to perform the procedure myself, in a car.

Brennan Permalink: Booth, why are you covering yourself? I'm not going to perform the procedure myself, in a car. Added: January 17, 2017

Booth’s reaction was classic. Sex without the worry of having children might sound great, but the thought of what it takes to make that happen had him cowering in his car seat.

I was a little surprised that Angela equated his reaction to being Catholic. Isn't the Catholic church against any form of birth control? I assume Booth and Brennan are using something or

'Bones' Recap: Brennan and Booth Investigate the Death of an 80-Year-Old Swindler
This episode of Bones, titled "The Final Chapter: The New Tricks in the Old Dogs," humorously rounds out the first quarter of the final season. Each Bones couple discusses how they feel about having more babies, resulting in Brennan making an uncomfortable demand on her squeamish mate. While these three couples discuss sex as a means of procreation, the case highlights an entirely different outlook on sex as it centers on the very active and intimate romantic relationship of two octogenarians in a retirement community.

As the case is all about a retirement home community, it brings several delightful and distinguished guest stars to the small screen. Those of us who have been around for a handful of decades will appreciate the appearance of the legendary seven-time Emmy Award-winning Ed Asner, who is known best for his characterization of Lou Grant, Mary Richards' acerbic news director, on The Mary Tyler Moore Show

I’m a big fan of this story. It one of my favorites that King has written and I also thought the movie directed by Frank Darabont was great, so I’m looking forward to this series and I have high hopes for it.
