Originally, author Harlan Coben had optioned off his novel to Hollywood, with director Michael Apted attached. During this time, director Guillaume Canet, who had loved the novel, had been calling up Coben with his take on the novel. Coben was immediately impressed with Canet's passion for the story, and his vision, stating that Canet understood that the novel was a love story first, and a thriller second, which Hollywood never got. At one point in the movie the main character is on Yahoo mail; As he logs in the password he types ("olympia") appears in full letters, while in reality it would be hidden (you would only see "*******").
While technically the Firefox browser does have a plugin that reveals inputs in the password field, one can assume that most people don't use Firefox, much less have the plugin installed. See more »
I owe this guy from 3 years ago. I took my kid to the hospital, all bruised up. Fuckers thought I'd beat up on him. This guy tells the cops it wasn't me, my kid's a haemophiliac. As long as he needs us, we're there, okay?

...atrociously constructed and written french wanna-be thriller, incompetently directed and horribly paced with too many characters throwing information at the viewer left and right, a much advertised ''on foot chase'' which is actually a man crossing a road, plot holes as big as Mount Everest, bad score with some pop interludes in all the wrong places, cop-out ending where one of the main characters explains the whole plot which isn't even a plot and defies all logic, reason and inspiration.... ....only redeeming qualities Marie-Josée Croze and François Cluzet. 1 star due to the overall idiotic and amateurish handling of direction and script. Truly a low-point of french cinema.
