This is one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood, but today it has even more meaning and hidden nuances that I haven't perceived earlier. It was made in the historical Pannónia Film Studios by József Nepp, Attila Dargay and Marcell Jankovics. This 5 minute cartoon is just one episode in the Gusztáv serial which counts 120 episodes total. It has no bright and rich colors typical for the other animations, but it's simplicity shines through with poise. Every episode is superbly written and the music is top class! The story usually deals with the life of the common, working class man and his every day problems. And you can sense from time to time some criticism pointed at the communist establishment present at the time in Hungary. What is so hilarious in every episode is that you could be in the same situation any day and how Gusztáv solves it in his unique way. If you can find it, it will be worth every penny! Highly recommended!
