Photo: Can You Spot An Obama?

25 May 2012 4:34 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

First daughter Malia Obama took in some boy band goodness on Thursday night, stopping by a One Direction in Fairfax, Virginia. The 13-year-old appeared to have a good time, screaming and clapping along to the tunes. (In case you're unaware, One Direction is the quintet who brought "What Makes You Beautiful" to the States from their native Britain).

Here's a fun game: Can you spot the gentleman from Secret Service? (Answer after the photo).

The Top 15 Reality TV Stars in Movies

22 May 2012 9:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

The big finale of "American Idol"'s 11th season is finally upon us this week, and we noticed that this year's two finalists look as cut out for the camera as they do for the stage (hello Phillip Phillips!).

It certainly doesn't hurt that so many "Idol" alums before them have successfully launched from the show's giant platform into the world of film.

In fact, there have been a lot of reality stars in general who've made a name in the movie scene. Here are our top 15.

15. Carrie Underwood, 'American Idol'

Credits: "Soul Surfer"

For "Idol" Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood, five Grammys, dozens of other accolades, four successful albums, and pretty hair just wasn't enough. She first gave her thespian itch a scratch on the small screen in 2010 with guest stints on "Sesame Street" and "How I Met Your Mother" before going full-blown Hollywood for 2011's "Soul Surfer, »

Trigger-Happy Pilot Season: Recastings On The Rise This Year, Technology To Blame?

19 April 2012 7:12 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

In the years I’ve been covering broadcast development, I have rarely seen so many recastings before pilots were filmed. There always have been some tweaks between the table-reads and the shoots (and even more after the upfronts on the pilots picked up to series) but nothing on the scale of what we’ve witnessed this season. The first major recasting actually came very early on when Ryan Phillippe exited the CBS drama pilot Golden Boy shortly after signing on for the role. He was eventually replaced with British actor Theo James. The CBS drama was one of a whopping three pilots to recast their leads this year. The other two, Fox’s comedy Ned Fox Is My Manny and CBS’ Greg Malins/Greg Berlanti comedy, did it after the table reads. Dakota Johnson was brought in on Ned Fox to replace originally cast Abby Elliott, and David Walton succeeded »

In Theaters: 'The Cabin In The Woods' Hopes To 'Lockout' 'The Three Stooges'

13 April 2012 8:58 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Jason is putting on the hockey mask and black cats everywhere are doing wind sprints to make sure they won’t miss you when you walk past. Not sure how to beat all the bad luck? Try going to the movies (and leaving your umbrella at home)! Toads and goldfish aren’t allowed in theaters and there are no mirrors to break or cracks in the floor to step on. Plus, the horror, thriller, romantic comedy, and documentary films coming out this weekend should provide great distraction. But be sure to bring some salt with you. Just in case.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Friday the 13th without a horror flick. Our requisite scream-a-minute release is “The Cabin in the Woods,” from first time director Drew Goddard, best known for writing “Cloverfield.” The film is co-written by Goddard and Joss Whedon, creator of the »

Review: 'Lockout' Is The B-Movie You've Been Waiting For All Year

11 April 2012 6:02 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

In the futurist world of "Lockout," most deadly convicts will be confined to Ms-One, a maximum security prison floating in outer space. It’s not long from now (2079, to be exact) strongly suggesting the cultural shift in our society’s interest in interstellar exploration has gone from possibly exploring other planets to merely depositing our human detritus into the galaxy’s gaping maw. It’s a good thing most of these cryosleeping convicts are deranged, irredeemable nutcases, right?

Said maniacs eventually spring loose, thanks to a Secret Service agent foolishly carrying a firearm into a restricted area. Thanks to the efforts of this American cowboy, scads of European-accented baddies awaken, and despite lying in stasis, they seem pretty capable of immediate violence. This is bad news for the ship’s most prized visitor, Emily Warnock (Maggie Grace), though her medical skills obscure the baddies’ awareness that she’s also the President’s daughter. »

'Deal With It, I'm Guy Pearce'

10 April 2012 1:51 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Being the last interview on the schedule usually leads to one of two outcomes: Either (A) the interview subject is completely exhausted and wants nothing more than for me to leave him or her alone, or (B) the interview subject is completely exhausted, but there's an irreverent sense of casualness; an "Oh, screw it, I'm done for the day"-type attitude.

On Monday, I was Guy Pearce's last interview of the day -- and he fit squarely into option (B). (Related: don't be surprised to soon see Pearce wearing a t-shirt that reads, "Deal with it, I'm Guy Pearce.")

Pearce is promoting "Lockout," a futuristic thriller about a futuristic prison orbiting the Earth that gets taken over by its futuristic inmates. A futuristic rogue named Snow (played by Pearce) is sent to the orbiting prison in an attempt to rescue a futuristic First Daughter (Maggie Grace).

Here, Pearce discusses, »

Maggie Grace on Lockout, Lost Tattoos, and Action Movies

9 April 2012 2:30 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

In Lockout (in theaters April 13), Maggie Grace plays the U.S. president’s daughter, a humanitarian type on a mission to an outerspace prison reserved for the country’s worst offenders. The criminals stage a violent revolt upon the First Daughter's visit, holding her hostage until ex–CIA operative Guy Pearce can bust in to set her free. Vulture spoke with Grace, who is best known for her two-season (and series-finale-worthy) role as Shannon on Lost, about her days at Comic-Con, the craziest fan tattoo ever, and action movies.I was surprised that this movie is actually self-aware and funny. That’s what drew me to it in the first place: I loved how funny it was. The dialogue had that throwback quality to eighties and nineties action movies. It’s funny, I’ve done quite a few action movies lately, almost five in a row [including the sequel to Taken], but I’m »

First daughter Sasha Obama not only brought her adorable fashion sense to the Kids' Choice Awards on March 31, but because her tiny frock is sold at an affordable price, any girl on a budget can rock the same super cute style! Michelle has clearly taught her daughters well. The stylish 10-year-old opted for a geometric print with this grey Asos dress, which featured a flared miniskirt. We think this was such a cute choice for the young first daughter -- and priced at $75.20, what's not to love? Older sister Malia Obama also rocked a piece from the UK label at the celeb-filled event. The 13-year-old chose to accessorize her floral skirt with a detailed leather belt, »

Air Collision (2012)

26 March 2012 9:02 PM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

Written and Directed by Liz Adams

Starring Reginald VelJohnson, Jordan Ladd, Gerald Webb, Michael Teh, Darin Cooper, Darren Anthony Thomas, Kevin Yarbrough, Erin Coker, Andy Clemence, Angelique Cinelu, Stephanie Hullar, Meredith Thomas

While it may be hard to believe that Air Collision is the best Asylum film yet in the entire history of Asylum films, you should really take my word for it.

Sporting a multi-ethnic, and large, ensemble cast involving actors playing scientists, Faa agents, commercial airplane pilots, marines, The President, The First Lady and First Daughter, and people running from falling satellites combined with some pretty good computer graphic effects of said satellites falling and airplanes ramming into buildings, Air Collision certainly *feels* like The Asylum shelled out about ten grand more than they usually do for their monster films.

Air Collision is an updated version of the classic airport disaster film plot; satellites controlled by a brand »

Meghan McCain In ‘Playboy’ — ‘I Love Sex’ & ‘I’m Not A Lesbian’

17 March 2012 1:55 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

John McCain's daughter, Meghan, is in 'Playboy' next month and wait until you hear what she had to say! She didn't hold back one bit about her sex life, rumors about being a lesbian and her love of Jack and Coke! Meghan McCain was almost in the White House as the First Daughter, had her dad, John McCain, beat President Barack Obama in the the 2008 presidential race -- and it might have been a nice change in pace! The 27-year-old political maven is outspoken and doesn't hold back or try to act perfect, something she demonstrates in a hysterical and telling interview in April's Playboy. "I love sex and I love men," Meghan says, explaining that she loves to hang out with people who identify as bisexual (ala Tila Tequila) because she has fun, not because she's dating them. "I’m not a lesbian, if that’s what you’re asking. »

Jenna Elfman Will Play 1600 Penn’s First Lady

14 March 2012 1:30 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

As Independence Day and bullhorn enthusiasts will remember, Bill Pullman, maybe the Greatest Fictional President to ever grace our screens, has already signed on to reprise that role in Josh Gad’s First Family pilot, 1600 Penn. Now he has a Mrs. President: Jenna Elfman has signed on to play the “street smart First Lady with working class roots.” Gad himself plays the elder First Son; Brittany Snow, as previously announced, will play the First Daughter. Okay, and now for a pop quiz: Can you, without Googling, name the actress who played Flotus opposite Bill Pullman in Independence Day? (The answer is Mary McDonnell. If you got it, feel free to brag in the comments.) »

Bill Pullman To Play U.S. President In NBC Comedy Pilot ’1600 Penn’

24 February 2012 1:00 PM, PST | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Brittany Snow Cast In ’1600 Penn’ Bill Pullman will be playing a U.S. President again, this time on the small screen. The Independence Day star has been tapped to play President Dale Gilchrist in the NBC comedy pilot 1600 Penn, co-created by Josh Gad, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett and directed by Winer. Produced by 20th TV, it is a dysfunctional family comedy where the out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only it’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together. The twist is that this family resides in the White House. Like his character in blockbuster Independence Day, Pullman’s President Gilchrist has military background — he is a heroic ex-Marine. On the cast, Pullman, repped by ICM, joins Gad and just-cast Brittany Snow as the First Daughter. »

Chelsea Clinton is in talks to renew her NBC News contract, according to reports. The former Us First Daughter signed a three-month deal with NBC in November to highlight inspiring news stories for the network's 'Making a Difference' segments.
