Dash heads second 'State'

15 March 2004 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Damon Dash is directing Lions Gate Entertainment's State Property II, a sequel to the 2002 feature, State Property, which he produced. The screenplay by Adam Moreno centers on three gangsters fighting to control the streets of Philadelphia. Beanie Sigel is reprising his State Property role as Beans, an imprisoned drug lord, while Dash will play Dame, a Harlem-born hustler with deep pockets and strong allies. The cast also includes Victor Santiago as Loco, a flashy Miami playboy soon to be released from prison. Dash is producing, with Beth Melillo serving as co-producer. Production has begun in New York for what Lions Gate is eyeing as a 2005 release. Like Dash's 2003 film Death of a Dynasty, State Property will include cameos from a number of celebrities. »
