A young journalist, David Katz, who writes for a hip-hop magazine called "Mic Check", starts following a music mogul around as part of a story and over time incorrectly starts to think he is part of that world, which leads to him writing an article for a gossip newspaper that starts a rivalry between the producer and his most famous rapper. I AM COMMENTING ON ONE OF THE COMMENTS ON HERE AS WELL AS MY OWN COMMENTING - Ebon Moss-Bachrach (the lead character in this movie) and I attended William Esper Studios together back in 1999. I told him he'd make it - and he did. I can also guarantee Hollywood hasn't spoiled this beautiful artist - he had a soft, humble way about him that I am sure will never change.
He was one of our best in the class - I saw talent in him from day one, aside from being beautiful. YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TRUE ACTING OR ARTISTIC TALENT. OF COURSE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE POSING. HE IS PLAYING A POSER UNTIL THE END WHEN HE DOES AN IMPECCIBLE JOB OF TURNING AROUND WHEN HE THINKS HIS FRIEND IS DYING.
Movie was great - check out his other works. Also - Law and Order - Trial By Jury - he plays Danny Wallace - totally in the moment, wrapped as tight as you are going to get - you forget it's Ebon - even when you know him, like I do. I LOVE AND MISS YOU, EBON. I STILL OWE YOU A DINNER.....
