I must admit that at first, like other viewers I was wary of watching
this show. I'm kinda squeamish so it didn't really appeal to me but I
watched five or six episodes of season two with the girls across the
hall from me at my college because they love it and I went out that
weekend and bought season one on DVD. Since then I've seen all of the
first season and I can't wait for season two on DVD.
I like it that they add drama and things that really happen together
and I love the conflicts they have. Even though I'm not interested in
plastic surgery I love seeing how people go about it and what everyone
wants to change about themselves.
Christian is hysterical, his obsession with material objects is so real
to me with the society we live in now, Sean and his wife have the most
amusing arguments I've ever heard, and the way he treated Matt in the
first season when he wanted the circumcision was very funny.
I love this show and I can't wait for season three and four and many
more to come. Oh and one more thing... "tell me what you don't like
about yourself..."

Nothing new and fresh about this show? Ptuh! What're you watching,
re-runs of M*A*S*H*? I'll admit, when I first saw the ads on TV for
this show I thought, "crap" and dismissed it from my mind. Then I have
a couple friends tell me about it and I get interested. I recently
watched a full episode, the one directly before the season finale as
well as the finale. All I can say is, "Wow. Bravo." These actors have
incredible range and just from the two episodes I saw enough to make me
a fan. A buddy of mine hadn't seen a single episode until the finale,
and the very next day he bought Season 1 on DVD. I'm lining up to get
it as soon as I get paid, I'm a current "Alias" and "Nip/Tuck" addict
now. Amazing show! It almost reminds me of Miami Vice meets Fight Club
meets E.R., in some sick twisted way. I love it.

I began watching Nip/Tuck last fall when F/X ran the entire first
season every night for a whole week. I had been a fan of Julian McMahon
from "Charmed" and wanted to see what his new series entailed. How very
pleasantly surprised and to some degree shocked I was to finally find
provocative and riveting television with characters that posses
emotional and intellectual depth. Each episode is intelligently filled
with a roller coaster of drama, suspense, romance, adventure, comedy,
and great 80's music leaving the viewer hanging on to every last minute
and desperately anticipating the next episode. Two plastic surgeons in
Miami, reflecting on their pasts, struggling with the present, and
questioning their futures- I haven't experienced quality T.V. like this
since George Clooney's character graced the exam rooms of "ER". Some
content and language can be very explicit and risqué, so only mature
individuals need to tune in. 5 out of 5 stars.

This show would be great if there wasn't so much awful soap opera
melodrama. While I find the plastic surgery related story lines to be
extremely compelling and an interesting look/critique at the world of
cosmetic surgery, the side plots including the families are just boring
and a lot more time consuming than they should be. I find myself
flipping to other things for about 2/3 of the show because I find the
subplots to be totally unwatchable. I wish they made more of a focus on
the in-clinic stuff and came away from the stuff involving the fringe
characters, in my opinion, it really drags the show down. I appreciate
that they want to make the show multi-faceted, but it would be nice if
it was lightened up a bit and not so melodramatic. This is prime-time,
not General Hospital.

When I first heard of this show, I thought it would be real superficial
and bad. But it is the BEST show I have ever seen. Julian McMahon is
perfect for his character. All the characters are so real and it really
shows how society is obsessed with perfection..if anybody doesn't
agree, they're lying to themselves. I don't remember the quote exactly
but it's from the first season. 'People will always hate something
about themselves and that's why we'll always be in business'. I've
always liked Julian McMahon when he was on Charmed and it seems like
this character was written especially for him. For any woman who hasn't
seen what he looks like, take a peek and even if it's just to stare at
him for an hour..Nip/Tuck is definitely worth watching.

Matt being "The Carver" as some of you have suggested??? What kind of
crack have you been smoking???
"The Carver" is Myrl. Plain and simple. All the clues point to him: His
resentment for beautiful people, his violent past, his lack of any
moral compass, plus his added hatred for Christian and Sean...
"Beauty is a curse on this world," as "The Carver" says to all of his
victims... Myrl has said such in previous episodes...
And "The Carver" can't be Adrian, as seen in the season finale. Adrian
commits suicide. "The Carver" is still at large and attacks
Christian...
Use your head people, and lay off the crack... Pay attention to the
damn show, and use some intelligence...

Are you retarded? Nip/Tuck is the greatest plastic surgery show ever
created. there is a plot, and if you cant follow it then clearly your
intellectual abilities are limited. You wanna talk about sleeziness and
bullsh*t? Go watch some more Charmed. Way to be mature, a show about a
bunch of neurotic witches is a much better choice for prime time
television than two attractive Miami plastic surgeons. And if you can't
handle the sick jokes, turn your freakin TV off or change the channel,
perhaps the Disney channel would better suit your desires. Look into
Lizzie McGuire, i hear that show is pretty good for those of us who are
still in a prepubescent mindset. Of course this show is centered around
perfection, what do you think plastic surgery is? A field dedicated to
creating flaws? That is just about the most dim-witted comment i have
ever read. You ask, "How stupid can you get", clearly not as stupid as
you are. This show has NOT been done before, yes there has been ER and
scrubs and what not and multiple "reality plastic surgery" shows but
nothing of this sort has been done. and no real acting? how bout you
get on the set and do a little acting for us? i'd like to see you do
better. And as far as your boot goes, you can take it and shove it
straight up your A$$. My advice for you is, next time you feel the need
to share your unsupported and illogical opinions, think twice, shut
your face, and go complain to your dog. Start watching PBS, its a lot
easier for someone of your mental capacity to understand.

I started watching this in the middle of the second season. And I was
instantly hooked. I had to run out and buy the first season on DVD. I
watched the entire season in one day. I hate soap operas they are so
fake, who comes back from
the dead that many times like on "Days", but now Nip/Tuck, this world
is so
freaky now you can see how these situations might come up. I know
several
people whose lives could have been the basis for Sean, Christian &
Julia. I also love the plastic surgery angle. It is such a hot topic
now, everyone including myself is having it done. It lets you see the
vulernablability of the characters. I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! And besides,
it is not supposed to be a reality show,
therefore those who think it is too dysfunctional (previous reviewer)
it is
supposed to be entertainment and let us look at ourselves at being all
the better not to have the problems the characters are having to cope
with. It definitely keeps your attention from beginning to end. GREAT
JOB!!!!

Nip/Tuck uses an unusual formula to deliver an excellence. Every
episode will make you laugh, and probably even cry.
The writers had Season 1 good, but I've never seen a television show
before that was able to have a absolutely FLAWLESS second season. The
second season starts out with Sean and Christian pushing 40. They will
experience one hell of a ride, for sure.
The second season has higher praised actors featured in smaller roles,
such as Joan Rivers and Alec Baldwin. And Nip/Tuck isn't a show that
features cameos, but if it does, it will give a good reason why that
certain famous actor is getting a shine of stardom. (Alec Baldwin will
play a character that is directly related with one of the other actors,
but who you will have to find out for yourself!) Joan Rivers, however,
has no reason to be there yet, we'll find out soon.
Besides the special actors appearing in season 2, Christian and Sean
will learn the real meaning of partnership. Season 2 is overall more
intense, addicting, touching, and funny than the 1st season could ever
be. If season 3 happens to be any better, Nip/Tuck will prove once and
for all, that it is TV Gold. But, that's already been proven to us,
already.

Forget "The Sopranos", "Sex and the City" or "Oz". This has to be the
sickest and most cynical show on the air. It plays like a drug opera, maybe
"Requiem for a Dream" or "Less Than Zero" only with sex and plastic surgery
addictions in place of the chemical dependencies. It has a slick and icy
James Cameron/Adriane Lyne/Ridley Scott/Michael Mann 80s look to it; but
this isn't just a hipster "South Park" shock'em and sock'em series. The
characters aren't amoral, they have a sense of morality and that is what
makes it so hard to watch. These are human beings at their ugliest and most
desperate; they perpetuate and feed off of some sort of emotional hell.
