New Stills: Ryan Reynolds is Buried Alive

Director Rodrigo Cortes has had the dubious honor of doing what many fans of the Blade film series wanted to do after seeing Blade: Trinity -- bury Ryan Reynolds alive! That's just what he did in his latest film, Buried, which is set to make its debut at Sundance, and we've got some new and very claustrophobic stills for you!
Buried stars Ryan Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq who awakens to find that he has been buried alive inside of a coffin. Armed with only a lighter and a cell phone, it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap before he runs out of air.
Check out the new stills below, and look for more on Buried really soon!

Daybreakers Extended TV Trailer

We haven't talked much about Daybreakers, the upcoming vampire film by writer/director siblings Michael and Peter Spierig, but the release of the film's extended TV trailer seems reason enough to shed some light on it. The film stars Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe in a world where vampires rule, and humans are a minority hunted for blood. In the trailers it's revealed that the vampires blood supply is dwindling, and that they're searching for a synthetic blood substitute. There's also talk of a "cure"---apparently the worldwide vampirism was caused by a plague of some sort.
I like the film's reversal by making vampires the dominant group, and overall it looks like a perfectly stylish blend of sci-fi and horror. Quite honestly, I was hoping we'd eventually see a film with this premise in the Blade universe, but we can thank David Goyer for running that into the ground with Blade: Trinity.

The 33 year old star of The Proposal sat down for an interview today with MTV to discuss the past year of his life, including the two big budget superhero movies he has signed on to star in: The Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off Deadpool.
Speaking about The Green Lantern, which is the first of the two films to go into production, Reynolds said:
“I’ve known about “Green Lantern” my whole life, but I’ve never really followed it before. I fell in love with the character when I met with [director] Martin Campbell. When I sat down with him, I really got what it is that this guy is all about. When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has ba–s of titanium, and the other part is that he’s slightly crazy, and you have to be to take

Wesley Snipes has appealed his three-year prison sentence on U.S. federal tax charges - insisting the term is "unreasonable".
The Blade: Trinity star was convicted in 2008 of three misdemeanour counts of wilful failure to file his income tax return.
According to prosecutors, who pursued the maximum penalty, Snipes made at least $13.8 million (£8.6 million) for the years in question and owed $2.7 million (£1.7 million) in back taxes.
Snipes apologised at the time, insisting he was was "unschooled in the science of law and finance".
In a Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday his attorney accused prosecutors of seeking to make an example out of the actor, insisting the sentence "focused too heavily on deterrence".
Snipes' attorney also argued the actor should have been granted a hearing to decide whether his trial should have been in New York instead of Florida, where he has homes.
Snipes remains free on bail and was not present at the Atlanta courthouse.
The three-judge panel did not issue an immediate decision.

Outrage is a film that was shot in Rabun County, which is the same location that Deliverance was shot in, and the film really has a positive message about dealing with the past and pain. The main theme of the film is that people must let go of there own fear and anger in order to bring passion in to their lifes. Outrage not only has an interesting theme and premise, the film has several stars in the film including Micheal Madsen (Reservoir Dogs), Natasha Lyonne (Blade: Trinity), and Michael Berryman (The Devil's Rejects). Even director Ace Cruz has a part in Outrage as Trey and here director Ace Cruz talks a little bit more about this film and how the law of attraction can create positivity in anyones' life.
(Michael Allen) Hello Ace, how are you doing? Are you talking to me from California?

Okay, all you Twilight-ers out there. It’s time to avert your eyes, because the Haterade is about to flow like a pierced jugular. This week, yes, in honor of New Moon’s release, we are counting down our collective top 10 of the worst vampires in film history. These are creatures of the night so goofy, so lame, and so odd, they make us dream of the days of Max Schreck. Hell, they make us long for the days of Willem Dafoe playing Max Schreck. So hear you are, sans Nicolas Cage from Vampire’S Kiss, even, the ten worst vampires in motion picture history.
10. Zandor Vorkov as Dracula in Dracula Vs Frankenstein
Universal monster team-ups of the 1940s, director Al Adamson’s 1971 low budget paste-up job Dracula Vs Frankenstein (Adamson combined footage from a uncompleted biker film with the monster pairing) is considered one of the worst horror films of the 70’s,

Biel's 'Girl Crush' On Garner

Jessica Biel admires Ben Affleck's taste in women - she has been harbouring a 'girl crush' on his Hollywood actress wife Jennifer Garner.
The Blade: Trinity star, who is dating pop star Justin Timberlake, admits she's intrigued by the married mother-of-two, her glamorous looks and envious film career.
However, 27-year-old Biel insists she's no competition for Affleck, because her admiration for Garner is purely platonic.
She explains, "My girl crush is Jen Garner at the moment (but) here's the thing with girl crushes: it's more of a respect thing. It's like, you're beautiful, you're cool, you look and seem like somebody I would want to hang out with and your career is awesome."

What Works About the Official Daybreakers Poster

A clever tagline accompanies the official one-sheet art for Daybreakers : "In 2019, the most precious natural resource...is us."
It's set against what we presume is a blood harvesting plant for the film's vampire population (which now dominates the world). The image is awe-inspiring, if nothing new (basically a riff off of what we saw in Blade: Trinity ), and it's a design with scope - a bit different than what we've come to expect from Lionsgate's one-sheets which usually focus on an individual or object (from Saw to My Bloody Valentine ).
But for a vampire film, this is wildly different than the teaser one-sheet which I took a liking to for its simplicity. It reminded me a bit of the original Fearless Vampire Killers design. This latest poster doesn't hint

Back in August, David Goyer ("The Dark Knight" writer, "Blade: Trinity" director) revealed that 20th Century Fox is still pursuing "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and already got in touch with him about possibly directing. Unfortunately, nothing was decided or solidified. Collider now caught up with him to get an update. "Fox is still mulling that," he said. "It was originally kind of neck-to-neck with Wolverine. They are developing that, Deadpool, Young X-Men, they're developing the second Wolverine film. I think, they're just trying to figure out what they want to do next and I'm kind of busy doing this other stuff right now. If they decide they want to make it, and they come to me and say 'Hey, let's make it,' I'll have to figure it out." Goyer previously revealed that the story will focus on the origins of Magneto and Professor X, starring with the young Magneto crushing

Actress Jessica Biel will join her boyfriend Justin Timberlake to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this autumn to raise money for charity.
The Blade: Trinity star has joined the team of celebrities recruited by Ethiopian-born singer Kenna to scale the 9,000-foot (5,890-metre) African peak as part of a fundraising and awareness effort for the worldwide water crisis.
She admits she only signed up for the trek after being "astonished" that more than a billion people in the world have no access to drinkable water.
The star says, "This is a basic human necessity that needs to be addressed now. (I want) to help any way I can in order to raise awareness toward the life-threatening clean water crisis happening not only in Africa but around the world."

A family is forced to protect their dying mother from the "violent wrath of a religious sect" in spec script called Mercy which was recently sold to Gold Circle.
The man behind the story? Chris Sparling, who also penned Buried , another thriller we introduced to you in August which stars Ryan Reynolds ( Wolverine , Blade: Trinity ). Gold Circle is fast-tracking the film, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Peter Safran and Paul Brooks are producing. The former also shepherded Buried .
We'll see which direction the tone steers in. Could be horror, could be a straight-up thriller geared towards your parents. The "religious sect" angle has us hopeful.

Mention the word “reboot” or “remake” to anyone and you’ll probably face a dissatisfied sigh. Hollywood’s movie recycling program in the last few years has left everyone with reboot/remake fatigue. However, once in a while a project comes along that peaks collective interest. The upcoming A-Team remake is one such film.
And now, the new A-Team adds two more names to its roster. Jessica Biel (Blade: Trinity, Stealth) will appear as an ex-love interest to Lt. Templeton “Face” Peck, played by Bradley Cooper, while District 9’s Sharlto Copley will be playing H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdoch. While Biel’s involvement is pretty standard fair (Don’t get me wrong, I like her) it’s Copley’s inclusion that is a great casting choice. While a relative unknown, Copley gained a lot of attention with his performance in District 9 (If you haven’t seen it, what are you waiting for?

Five Projects for Dce to Jump On, Day 1: ‘The Flash’

On the surface, The Flash may seem too simple of a project to make into a decent movie, but it’s that simplicity of the character that has always intrigued me. As a superhero, The Flash is not complicated. Regardless of which of the four incarnations you reference, The Flash embodies superhuman speed, agility, quick-thinking and intelligence and even the ability to defy certain law of physics, such as being able to vibrate so fast he can walk through walls or leap to alternate dimensions.
For the sake of argument, and popularity, we’ll focus on the most popular incarnation of The Flash. The story of Barry Allen began back in 1956, when DC Comics made the successful decision to modernize it’s most popular characters. In this re-imagining of The Flash, scientist Barry Allen is exposed to some powerful chemical agents when lightning strikes his lab, resulting in an exponentially-enhanced metabolism and physical ability.

Battle of the bloodsuckers: Where Twilight ranks in the vampire film world

Hollywood star Lauren Bacall had some strong words to say on the vampire romance movie Twilight recently, if you believed the online reports.
It was claimed the actress wrote on her Twitter page: "I saw Twilight - my granddaughter made me watch it, she said it was the greatest vampire film ever.
"After the 'film' was over I wanted to smack her across her head with my shoe, but I do not want a book called Grannie Dearest written on me when I die.
"So instead I gave her a DVD of Murnau's 1922 masterpiece Nosferatu and told her, 'Now that's a vampire film!' And that goes for all of you! Watch Nosferatu instead!"
It's since been said that this Twitter rant is by an imposter posing as Ms Bacall. But is it right? Is Twilight that bad that enjoying it merits a whack around the head with a shoe?

**Update** Walt Disney Pictures is reportedly buying Marvel Entertainment, creators of The X-Men, for $4 Billion, for more information check out the official press release here!

With rumours abound about a number of different possible X Men sequels it can be hard to keep track of who’s doing what, so what’s the deal here?
Well Blade: Trinity writer David Goyer predicted that there will be ‘movement’ on a film entitled X-Men Origins: Magneto in the next year! The story, which will be the second spinoff in the X-Men series, tells the story of The Master of Magnetism and leader of the sinister Brotherhood of Mutants – Magneto. The final movie is thought to be set for release in 2011.
Goyer, who also wrote for the Batman sequel The Dark Knight, told MTV Splashpage that Magneto is one idea on a list of potential X-Men spinoff movies but he is confident that it will be made.

As far as future X-Men movies go, we only have forward thrust on a second Wolverine adventure at present.
Hugh Jackman has been teasing at the story for Wolverine 2 and Christopher McQuarrie has been brought on board to write the screenplay. But where does that leave the other future X-Men projects?
X-Men Origins: Magneto, X-Men: First Class and Deadpool are the other planned movies hovering on standby, with fans (including me) eager to find out what's going on. There's also been talk - though nothing official - of spin-offs for Storm and Gambit.
Deadpool has neither a writer nor a director - and star Ryan Reynolds is now over at Warner Bros to play Green Lantern so his involvement is not 100 per cent guaranteed.
First Class has a writer (Gossip Girl and The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz) but no director, though Bryan Singer has 'flirted' with the idea of

Just over a month ago we talked about the future of the Blade franchise and at the time, it seemed that Stephen Dorff may help guide the series in a different direction with a trilogy of new movies set before the events of the first Blade.
It of course would star Dorff as the bad-ass vampire, Deacon Frost. Stephen Norrington, director of the first Blade, said that he’d be back to work on these prequels after he’s done working on the remake of The Crow and he confirmed that it would be Frost’s story but that it would be linked heavily with the existing movies.
Today we have some more tidbits about the next Blade film from another integral man behind the trilogy, David Goyer.

While the big names above the title might suggest an a high-octane cops and robbers caper with intelligent plotting and pounding action, you would do well not to be fooled. Shot on the down slope of Wesley Snipes’s career, prior to the upswing of Jason Statham’s, and well into the wilderness of Ryan Phillippe’s, this shockingly lackluster thriller from writer/director Tony Giglio (the man who brought us Soccer Dog) is plodding, predictable, and oh so very boring.
The timing of this project is likely crucial to its blundering inability to resonate on pretty much any level as an engaging thriller. Snipes was neck deep in a legal dispute with New Line (the IRS was still to come) over the debacle that was Blade: Trinity, Phillippe’s marriage to Reese Witherspoon was imploding (the couple would file for divorce a year later), and Statham, who had yet
