Paul Walker, 'Fast

Paul Walker, who found fame in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, died in a single car accident on Saturday at age 40.  The handsome leading man mixed up mainstream movies -- he was filming "Fast & Furious 7" -- with edgier fare such as the upcoming "Brick Mansions" in which he plays an undercover cop determined to take down a crime boss.  The California native was a child model and guested on a slew of TV shows before landing a plum part in the 1998 hit "Pleasantville" opposite Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maguire. Two years later -- after leading roles in "She's All That" and "Varsity Blues" -- he won the Exciting New Face prize from the Young Hollywood Awards.  -Break- In 2002, he starred in the first "Fast and Furious" film, and picked up the Best On-Screen Team popcorn bucket with co-star Vin Diesel at the MTV Movie Awards. CW to Broadcast Young Hollywood Awards Aug. 1

The CW will broadcast the 15th annual Young Hollywood Awards from Los Angeles in primetime Aug. 1.

Nominees for the kudofest, exec produced by Penske Media Corp., will be revealed in June.

“I’m so pleased Pmc and the CW will partner for our biggest year yet of the Young Hollywood Awards, spotlighting our show’s proven evolution in honoring and celebrating the accomplishments of the entertainment industry’s rising stars,” said Pmc founder, chairman and CEO Jay Penske. “Yha celebrates emerging young talent, and the CW Network has established the careers of some of the brightest young stars – making this alliance all the more perfect for the significant 15th anniversary of this eminent event.”

Said CW prexy Mark Pedowitz:  “The CW is thrilled to be able to join forces with Jay and Pmc to broadcast young Hollywood’s premier award show, as we continue to eventize our summer schedule. »
