The first (2002) series was a parody of the patronising 1970s "For Schools and Colleges" programmes, especially ITV's series "Experiment". The second (2005) series was a parody of Tomorrow's World (1965).

In the "Pages From Ceefax" extra, the "News in Morse" says:

"Government finally caved in from pressure from local residents associations and clamped down on market traders who set up their stalls before 6:00 am. The traders, known as "vebs" (very early birds) will have to comply with local authority regulations or face a mandatory jail sentence of 12 years, 10 of which must be spent confinement, the remaining 2 strapped to a brass wheel."
