26 August 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jennifer Lopez has been forced to pull out of the power performance at the MTV Video Music Awards because her new movie won't have wrapped in time. J.Lo was hoping to join new pals Madonna and Britney Spears for a rendition of "Like A Virgin," but filming of her new project Shall We Dance? in Canada has overrun, and she's having to sit the big show out. Weather and Penguins Delay Gere Film

25 August 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The weather in Antarctica and the peculiarities of penguins have combined to delay Richard Gere's next film for a year. The producers of Emperor Zehnder, in which Gere is to play a photographer dedicated to snapping penguins in their natural habitat, were afraid they would miss the planned October start date. That time of year passes for spring at the South Pole and provides a break in the harsh weather. The complicated technical nature of the film - including underwater footage of penguins - made shooting later in the year too risky. The delay means that Gere now is looking for another project, as Emperor Zehnder was supposed to have been his next film after the Jennifer Lopez-starrer Shall We Dance? »

Lopez and Affleck Still On

8 August 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have proved they're still very much an item - following reports the Daredevil actor's alleged frolics with a stripper had caused the pair to split. The sexy Hollywood couple have been snapped kissing and cuddling during a workout near J.L's home near Winnipeg, Canada - where she's filming new movie Shall We Dance In a pink top, Lopez is photographed resting her head on her fiance's chest. Affleck responds by caressing her shoulders and kissing her. An onlooker says, "There's no doubt they're still very much together. Whatever problems they might have been having they've obviously cleared up. This was a couple in love." Their public show of affection follows a frenzy of reports indicating the pair - whose co-starring movie Gigli is struggling to make an impact at the American box office - had separated, after the National Enquirer exposed Affleck's alleged raunchy behavior with a stripper. The publication claimed the actor used his fingers and tongue to make physical contact with the exotic dancer at Brandi's Exotic Nightclub in Vancouver, Canada, last month. Affleck denies the allegations. »

Have J.Lo and Affleck Split?

6 August 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jennifer Lopez is denying reports she has torn off her engagement ring and split from fiance Ben Affleck following allegations he spent a night out partying with strippers. Lopez has moved to quash the story following reports she arrived in Los Angeles and declared she was single last Thursday - the night before their troubled on-screen collaboration Gigli hit cinemas. The singer and actress had been awoken on Wednesday by her radio presenter sister Lynda, who asked her live on air about the National Enquirer's allegations her fiance had spent the night with strippers at a Vancouver lap dancing bar earlier that month. Lopez stated that, "It sounds like Ben. I'll have to ask him." A source confides to the New York Post that Lopez, who had taken her engagement ring off, then fled the Winnipeg, Canada, set of her new movie Shall We Dance and headed for her Los Angeles home on Thursday. J.Lo then arrived in New York for a photo shoot for America's W magazine on Saturday, where she was reportedly "very cranky". After she finished working, Lopez took 15 pals, including rapper Q-Tip, to Koi restaurant, before partying in Shelter nightclub where "they rang up a $9,000 bar tab in the Vip room". The source adds, "Jennifer kept talking about the 'drama, drama, drama', and told several people she was single before hitting the dance floor for the rest of the night. She was not wearing the engagement ring." Meanwhile, Affleck pulled out of a planned interview with Entertainment Tonight correspondent Chris Booker - the boyfriend of Lopez's sister - claiming he was "too sick" to attend. The actor has also refused to take a lie detector test as demanded by the Enquirer, who maintain their article - which Affleck's spokesman described as "garbage" - is entirely accurate, and supported by documentary evidence. However, a source close to Lopez insists the reports are all false, telling the New York Daily News, "She doesn't give a f*** about the story. She thinks it's funny. The wedding is still on." »

Green-Eyed J.Lo?

22 July 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Singing superstar Jennifer Lopez is reportedly insecure about fiance Ben Affleck's new friendship with sexy actress Uma Thurman. According to American newspaper the New York Post, J.Lo has become a regular visitor to the Vancouver set of Affleck and Thurman's new movie Paycheck - so she can keep an eye on the pair. Lopez fell in love with handsome Ben on the set of film Gigli, and fears Ben may be tempted by his current leading lady - even though Uma is married to actor Ethan Hawke. Although she is filming Shall We Dance in Winnipeg, Canada, Jen frequently flies across country to Vancouver on a private plane to see Ben whenever she can. A source tells the New York Post, "I'm not saying anything is going on, but there were also rumors about Ben and (Daredevil co-star) Jennifer Garner, and let's not forget how Ben and Jen met." »

J.Lo Jewels Found at Murder Scene

14 July 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Jennifer Lopez has been linked to a gruesome murder in Canada after jewelry she wears in new movie Shall We Dance? was discovered at the scene of the horrific mutilation. A 38-year-old Ontario man was found hacked up and decapitated in a Winnipeg hotel room, just yards away from a $4,000 necklace reported stolen from the set of J.Lo's movie, in which she stars alongside Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere. Police have now arrested Sydney Teerhuis and charged him with second-degree murder, but they still have no idea how J.Lo's jewelry wound up at the crime scene. Winnipeg police spokesman Bob Johnson says, "The killer was not the one who stole the necklace. I can only surmise the victim took it, but we may never know." »

Richard Gere Works Hard on Dance Steps

2 July 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Richard Gere is putting himself through a tough regime on the set of his new movie Shall We Dance? - by using every spare moment he has polishing his fancy footwork. The Chicago star, who appears in the flick with Jennifer Lopez, has been brushing up on his ballroom dancing skills on the Canadian set with the help of competition-winning dancers, and his co-star Lisa Ann Walter is astounded with how hard he works. She says, "He's taking over the tile of 'Hardest Working Man in Show Business' from James Brown, I'll tell you.' Whenever there's a break in shooting, Richard runs over to the dance studio to work with our instructors, who are like number one-ranked Blackpool competition dancers. Two nights ago, he was there 'til midnight. He gets this really determined look on his face, which I call 'dance face'. It reminds me of my son Jordan when he was learning to cut with scissors." The anticipated flick also boasts Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon among its cast members. »

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reportedly halted their wedding plans yet again - this time because J.Lo's schedule doesn't allow room for the nuptials. The Maid In Manhattan stunner is too busy filming with Richard Gere on Shall We Dance? to make room for her own big day. A pal confides to Pagesix.Com, "Everyone thought she would get married this summer. But then her (work) schedule kept filling up, so it's not happening - yet."
