Adio Kerida is a Journey into a Woman's Tender Past
Adio Kerida (Goodbye My Love) is a documentary about Ruth Behar's journey into the memories of her childhood, memories that she longs for in her search for remnants of her Diasporic Jewish life in Cuba up until she and her family left when she was only five years old during the Cuban revolution in the early 60s. The documentary/movie is a beautiful anthropological expedition into a field very much unlike that of most field workers, one that is seen both up close and from afar. The imagery is vibrant, the message warm, and the gaze, wholly unique. Heart-warming and positive, this movie amalgamates heritage with culture, and culture with history. A must see!
