Halloween 2015 Countdown: 'Demon Knight' - Ernest Dickerson’s Cult Horror Classic - Is Now on Blu-ray

One of the things I really like about director Ernest Dickerson is that he has no qualms nor shame about being considered a "genre” director - the term used for directors who specialize in genres such as horror, suspense and action. Take a look at his very impressive and extensive list of directing jobs in both films and television, and you'll see credits such as "Surviving The Game," "Bones," "Never Die alone," "The 4400," "Under the Dome," and "Dexter." And I don’t need to tell you about his stellar work on the AMC's "The Walking Dead" for which has directed several episodes, many considered the most...

Ventana Sur’s Blood Window Focuses Ramp-up of Latin American Genre (Exclusive)

Mar Del Plata – A cohort of Latin America’s young high priests of horror – Uruguay’s Gustavo Hernandez, Argentina’s Adrian and Ramiro Garcia Bogliano and Daniel de la Vega, Mexico/L.A.’s Lemon Films, Colombia’s Rhayuela, Cuba’s 5th Avenue – will congregate for Ventana Sur’s Blood Window, which ranks, besides Austin’s Fantastic Market as one of Latin America’s two big Latin America genre jamborees.

Notably, Latin America’s modern genre build is an almost entirely 21st century phenomenon. None of the 21 directors featured at Blood Window in either its six-title Work in Progress or much larger Beyond the Window helmed a feature before 2000.

“There’s always been a sensation, not only in Argentina but also over Latin America, that genre couldn’t really belong to us: It was the almost exclusive preserve of Americans,” said Incaa’s Javier Fernandez, Blood Window organizer.

“Just a few years back,

‘Witness,’ ‘Scherzo,’ ‘Honeymoon’ Play Ventana Sur’s Bloody Work in Progress

Mar Del Plata — Buenos Aires-based Magma Cine, headed by Juan Pablo Gugliotta and Nathalia Videla Pena, has reteamed with Argentina’s Santiago Fernandez for “Intimate Witness,” one of six titles at Blood Window’s 2nd Bloody Works in Progress.

A Latin American pix-in-post genre showcase. Bwip unspools Dec. 2-4 at Ventana Sur in Buenos Aires.

Three other Bwip titles, all from Mexico, – Adrian García Bogliano’s “Scherzo Diabólico,” Isaac Ezban’s “The Similar,” and Diego Cohen’s “Honeymoon,”- underscore Mexico’s rapid new build as a genre pic production hub.

But Ventana Sur’s Blood Window is part of a more general ramp-up of genre production across Latin America.

There was of course Latin American genre production of course before Ventana Sur. But the existence of a platform such as Blood Window, which also organizes a Latin American Fantasy Film showcase at Cannes, will boost production levels all the more,

Interview: Co-Stars Michael Ealy, Regina Hall Tell ‘About Last Night’

Chicago – The path to this year’s remake of the 1986 film “About Last Night” starts right here in Chicago, based on the original 1974 stage version, “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” by David Mamet. Two co-stars in the remake – Michael Ealy and Regina Hall – visited the source city to talk about their version.

After working mostly on stage in the late 1990s, Michael Ealy broke out in a big way (see the story below) in the popular “Barbershop” (2002). This led to steady work with roles in “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003), “Never Die Alone” (2004) and the pivotal part as “Tea Cake” in the Oprah Winfrey produced 2005 TV movie of the classic novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neal Hurston. Recently, he was featured in “Think Like a Man” (2012) and “Last Vegas” (2013). Ealy takes on the role of Danny in “About Last Night,” played in the 1986 version by Rob Lowe.

Keke Palmer, Drew Sidora Cast As 'Chilli' & 'T-Boz' In TLC Biopic - Fans Apparently Not Pleased
According to Vibe magazine, Keke Palmer has been cast to play Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, and Drew Sidora has been cast as Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, in VH1's in-development biopic on pop/hip hop/R&B group TLC, which the network announced, last November, with shooting to begin next month. Palmer and Sidora join the Niatia Kirkland - aka Lil' Mama - who'll be playing the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Likely the least known of the trio, Drew Sidora is an actress/singer known for her recurring role on That's So Raven, and her parts in movies like Step Up, Never Die Alone, White Chicks, Wild Hogs and others. Seemingly in response to Twitter comments about her not looking anything like Chilli, Keke Palmer took to the social media site this afternoon in defense of her casting, stating, verbatim: People kill me, I don't remember Angela Bassett...
