The Sweet 16 Club goes on a motor truck Party to the home of Mrs. Gray. Arthur, a timid and inexperienced lover, amoured of Marceline, falls off the truck into a mud puddle. The truck stalls and a storm comes up. All but Arthur take refuge under the truck. They won't let him come under with his muddy clothes. He gets soaked and his clothes shrink several inches, making him a fine laughing stock. Mrs. Gray gives him the suit her husband wore when he proposed to her, also the written proposal with which he won her heart. Arthur is chased allover the place in his underwear by the jokesters but finally gets into dry clothes with the help of Mrs. Gray, and then takes Marceline out into the garden where he delivers the proposal with the aid of notes which are concealed in his derby. At the climax of the love scene he is spied by the mocking club members. Marceline sees them and slyly slips away while Arthur is referring to the notes to find out what to do next. Arthur reads, "He closed his eyes and kissed me savagely," Just as a cow pushes her nose over the place formerly occupied by Marceline. He closes his eyes and kisses the cow, giving the crowd a big laugh. The cow licks his hair consolingly.
