Seemingly set in the mid 1970's, DO WOK A DO is a short film about a young girl coping with the ups and downs of life as she and her family help run their small restaurant in a US or Canandian suburb. A fun part for me was seeing a new and pristine "Six Million Dollar Man" t-shirt being casually worn -- it brought back memories. There are vintage toys, posters and cars from the mid-late 1970's as well.
DO WOK A DO also plays on the popular culture fascination with UFO's and the possibility of extra-terrestrial life that was big 30 years ago and has never really completely faded away.
At its core, DO WOK A DO is about one person's memories. It is a simple, personal film, and it does not try to be anything else.
