First off, this isn't a remake of the stinky 3-D Parasite from 1982, which I actually like because it's kind of fun and hokey. Nope, this is a stinky movie that stands (or doesn't) on its own merits. We have this team of the usual unlikely misfits that work on oil rigs and we also have some equally unlikely eco-terrorists, plus an also-unlikely beautiful ex-eco-terrorist that works for the oil company now and they're all on this isolated oil rig that is crawling with thingies. These thingies thrive on some new cleaning stuff that has some kind of growth accelerate which was never meant for nurturing killer worms. What we have here is the failure to make an original movie, because there are bits and pieces of a million movies you've already seen in this and there's absolutely nothing here that could be pushed on the viewer as new or different. The varmints themselves look like big toothy snakes, which isn't a far cry from what the varmints looked like in the original "Parasite" but these aren't quite as slimy and they're bigger. Technically I suppose this is a well made film but it's also without any redeeming values. Ho hum, 3 out of 10.
