This movie shows the versatility of Mr. Crystal as an actor even more than as a comedian, The complex character of Billy Young must have been hard to create given his sad, mean personality. To be in the business himself, there had to been much reflection as to all that he has seen on the comedy circuit. Overall the movie was an excellent display of the human condition and the way that we interact with each other. The flow of the plot was never slow, but steady as it reflected on the colorful and vibrant lifestyle of the entertainer. The performances of the other people in the movie were a main drive behind it's interesting developments. Helen Hunt, Jerry Orbach and even the believable cameo by Jerry Lewis made me wonder who this movie was based on. If it is not based on a real comedian, then the writers and producers deserve much more aclaim.
