The literal translation of the title of this movie is: those who fled to Hong Kong.
This movie is a brave masterpiece of criticism on the Cultural Revolution, during which the prosperous Hong Kong, like any place in west, is depicted as capitalist hell while China is depicted as socialist heaven by the governmental propaganda. The sad reality is that the fact is totally opposite, people in west not only enjoyed material wealth, but also personal freedom without fearing of political persecution, and people in the "socialist heaven" risk death to escape to the "capitalist hell", as accurately depicted in this movie.
Furthermore, this movie accurately depicted the fact that once in west, as long as you work hard and work smart, you can rise to the to top to have a good living, from the bottom like when they first got to Hong Kong. The movie is therefore an masterpiece of social criticism on the Cultural Revolution.
