The literal translation of the title of this film is: Escaping Danger at Church.
The film gives an accurate depiction of the experience of Mao's children, however, there was a great irony in Mao's family after what had happened in the movie: Mao got married again and had a child again, and his new wife was then sent to Russia to treat her illness.
In Joseph Stalin's great purges in the late 1930's, Mao's wife was sent to psyco ward and her child to jail/labor camp, and was never to be found again. It was not until 1950's when Mao's wife was finally released and returned to China but by then Mao was married again.
It is a great irony that Mao's children from earlier marriage survived while fleeing in the enemy territory, while the child from the later marriage in the supposedly safe hand did not. Wonder when this part of Mao's family experience would be made into a movie.
