FX doesn't submit 'Fargo' as 'Transparent,' 'True Detective' lead WGA TV nominations

4 December 2014 5:49 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The Writers Guild of America announced the TV nominees for the 2015 WGA Awards on Thursday (December 4) morning and several new shows broke into the fields in a big way. And, of course, there were a number of big WGA Award nomination head-scratchers. Specifically, where the heck was FX's "Fargo"? The answer is below. Making perhaps the biggest splash was "Transparent," which earned three nominations and, since "Orange Is The New Black" earned two nods and "House of Cards" pick up one, that meant that Amazon Prime and Netflix are, at least for one award-giving organization, on equal footing as creators of original programming. The Jill Soloway-created "Transparent" is nominated for New Series, where it will go against "The Affair," "The Knick," "Silicon Valley" and "True Detective." "Transparent" and "Silicon Valley" are also up for Comedy Series, going against "Louie," "Veep" and "Orange Is The New Black." Lest you panic »

'Game of Thrones,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'True Detective' bulk up PGA Awards TV nods

1 December 2014 9:58 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Paired with its documentary feature nominations, the PGA announced this Monday morning which television shows, specials, and digital series that will compete in the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards. The PGA Awards nominations honor a little bit of everything, including "Breaking Bad," "Cosmos," "Last Week with John Oliver," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and the third season of YouTube’s "Video Game High School." Can’t blame the guild for shallow picks. The PGA Awards major TV category, Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, went to the award-devouring programs we know and love. "Game of Thrones," "Breaking Bad," "House of Cards," "True Detective," and "Downton Abbey," will all compete for top honors. On the comedy side, the PGA honored the entire spectrum of laughs: The genre-bending "Louie" and "Orange Is the New Black" facing off against sitcom staples "Modern Family" and "The Big Bang Theory," with "Veep" making fun of them all »

Bill O'Reilly Makes Controversial Remarks about Ben Affleck's Beheading by Isis

10 October 2014 1:47 AM, PDT | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Fox TV host Bill O'Reilly has weighed in on Ben Affleck's recent comments about Islam, made during a heated debate on Real Time With Bill Maher, and has some harsh words for the actor.

The Maher episode aired on Friday, amid a U.S.-led air assault on Isis (Islamic State) targets in Iraq and Syria, where the group's militants have for months been taking over territories and executing people they deem non-believers, including four Westerners.

"The truth is many Muslim nations have not confronted Islamic terrorism, have not attacked violence in the name of Allah, and have not even condemned the jihad. There is exception to the rule but they are few. Therefore, militant Islam continues to drive worldwide terrorism and have plenty of sanctuaries from which to commit their evil," O'Reilly said on his Fox News show The O'Reilly Factor on Monday.

On Monday, Bill Maher told Salon how he felt about his recent clash with Ben Affleck: "We're liberals! We're not crazy Teabaggers!" The comedian was referring to Friday night's episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, when he and Ben argued back and forth over the nature of Islam.
