Detective Sergeant Murphy is assigned to protect Mickey Monday, a world class snooker player. Monday has been receiving threats and is being pressured to fix an upcoming match. When Monday's daughter is kidnapped, Murphy is able to trace the kidnappers to one of Monday's childhood friends only to learn that there is something far more sinister at play. In his personal life, Murphy learns that his ex-wife has moved on and now has a boyfriend. Written by garykmcd
This is an example of how well the British can do TV Drama when they have a good cast of stock character actors, (lead by James Nesbitt who is excellent as the somewhat wayward Tommy), and the benefit of clever sharp witted scripting, combined with tight direction. Nesbitt has the right amount of cheek and dubious charm to flirt with the attractive co-star Claudia Harrison. The story manages to keep you guessing and has enough suspense to stop you running off for a tea break. In common with some other Brit productions at times the local and Irish dialects can be hard to follow. But overall considerably better than many similar Cops/Robbers Shows.
