Storyline

This lost vintage feature film, 'New Gladiators', was filmed in 1973 & 1974 and was the pet project of Elvis Presley and Ed Parker; finally found, restored and released. The cast of this feature film reads like a 'who's who' of the martial arts. You will see Team USA fight at Wembley Stadium in London, England, and then very next day, fight in Brussels against the very best fighters in Belgium. This is not a 'how-to' video - this entertaining film features a great soundtrack created by David Crosby and Graham Nash, and is narrated by karate legend, Chuck Sullivan. Trivia

Elvis was to narrate the film, and was to be filmed for inclusion in parts of the movie. He worked on tweaking the script, and devised a few key ideas. One scene, that ended the movie, was to feature Elvis, on a hill-top, surrounded by karatekas performing kata; and as the film ended, the words "The Beginning" would appear on screen. See more »

No Elvis Presley on it
21 November 2006 | by See all my reviews

Well, "New Gladiators" was Elvis Presley's little dream in the 1970's. He was planning to produce feature documentary starring karate champions, and appear himself as an narrator.

Well, always when they would have time to shoot, Elvis didn't want to. He was ill or he had something better to do, but one day they get Elvis to the karate hall where Elvis made few karate tricks, and it sure was fun to watch. It was fun to watch then, and it was fun to watch in 2005 in DVD of "Elvis by the Presleys".

Anyway, this documentary doesn't include Elvis Presley at all. It's wrong to say that it's written by Elvis Presley, because the film was never made. Elvis wouldn't have like this because it's nothing like he was planned it to be.

7/10 because it's better than many sport documentaries.
