Trivia

Sammy Davis Jr. presented the award for Best Adaptation or Treatment Score, but was mistakenly given the envelope for Best Original Score, and erroneously announced Tom Jones (1963) as the winner. Given that Tom Jones was not nominated as the two categories had a completely different set of nominees, the error recognized immediately and Davis was quickly given the correct envelope and announced Irma la Douce (1963) as the actual winner. This was the first and only occurrence of a presenter announcing the wrong winner until La La Land (2016) was erroneously named Best Picture over Moonlight (2016) during The 89th Annual Academy Awards (2017).
