Storyline

Seven celebrities, Stephen Baldwin, Corbin Bernsen, Michael Boatman, Kim Coles, Kathy Griffin, Frederique van der Wal, and Erik von Detten, travel to Hawaii for two weeks and compete in a series of mental and physical games to add money into the pot that will eventually total up to $250,000. However, one of them is the Mole, a double agent hired by the producers to prevent the others from adding money to the pot. The real players must use all their guile to discover which of their teammates is the Mole. Each round, the players take a quiz with questions about the Mole's identity, and whoever scores the least is executed and must leave the game. The last real player remaining wins all of the money in the pot, and the Mole is unmasked. Written by Dan Petit

Trivia

In one episode where the players are in a graveyard with tombstones that have actors and actresses who have died onscreen, there is a quick shot of a small tombstone labeled "A. Cooper". This is a joke to the former host of The Mole (2001), Anderson Cooper, who left after two seasons to pursue his career in broadcast journalism at CNN. See more »

Fun to watch

Yet another reality show spin-off, "Celebrity Mole: Hawaii" is both enjoyable and laughable. Fortunately the games aren't ridiculously 'celebritized,' although they're certainly toned down from the better original series. Hopefully ABC plans to continue the original genre once this foray is over with.

Easily the best part of the show is the celebrity banter, especially that of Kathy Griffin and Frederique Van Der Wal. It's unfortunate that this show does not shuttle the players to various locations, as this was an intriguing part of the original shows.
