‘Answers To Nothing’ Trailer – Dane Cook Returns To Drama

5 October 2011 10:38 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

After a genuinely funny performance in Waiting…, mega-comedian Dane Cook balanced surprising dramatic turns in Mr. Brooks and Dan in Real Life while taking the rom-com route to no luck in My Best Friend’s Girl and Good Luck Chuck. After taking a few years off from acting, he is returning to drama with Answers to Nothing. We also praised his performance in Detention at SXSW, but that one hasn’t nailed down a release date yet, so we’ll focus on this one. Nothing is written and directed by Matthew Leutwyler and will see a release this December.

If this trailer is any indication, the results don’t seem promising. The story looks generic and the forced title cards vying for inspiration offer no help. The “intertwining stories” and the poster make this seem like a poor man’s Crash, and that is saying a lot. If you want »

Dane Cook Making A Big Career Move

28 September 2011 1:47 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Dane Cook has toured the world's arenas, and now, he'll be coming to your living rooms. Or computers or mobile devices, or however you might watch television shows.

The standup comedy star has inked a deal with NBC to develop and star in a half hour sitcom for the network, a report confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

A massively successful stage act, Cook has plenty of scripted acting experience, too. He appeared just recently in "Hawaii 5-0," and played himself in an episode of "Louie" that addressed his alleged joke stealing. He's also starred in a handful of films, including "Waiting," "Good Luck Chuck" and "Detention." He'll next star in "Answers to Nothing" with Julie Benz and Barbara Hershey, and "Guns, Girls and Gambling" with Gary Oldman.

Final Destination 5 Review

13 August 2011 1:47 PM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Final Destination 5 Directed by: Steven Quale Written by: Eric Heisserer Starring: Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Arlen Escarpeta, Miles Fisher, Ellen Wroe, P.J. Byrne, Arlen Escarpeta and Tony Todd The Final Destination franchise has never been known for its logic and storyline but mostly for its over-the-top kills and formulaic plot points. I would call myself a mild fan of the franchise seeing that I have watched all the films and have followed the franchise through its good times and very very bad times. Walking into Final Destination 5, I was not expecting much especially after how goofy and illogical the fourth film was. Fortunately this one plays it straight; it is still a Final Destination movie at the end of the day, but it is a good one at that. Every Final Destination film revolves around a disaster featured in the first ten minutes where a character has a »

"A pup for every person and a person for every pup." That's the motto of the Pound Puppies, a team of fearless dogs whose sworn mission is to find homes for lonely puppies. They only look like regular dogs. In fact, these pooches are dogs of action who match up pups with loving families while they keep the humans at Shelter 17 clueless. Sometimes dogs are dogs' best friend!

The Hub has pulled out all the stops for the return of the Pound Puppies franchise, hiring great writers and voice talent to push this animated series towards excellence. We recently had a chance to catch-up with some of the great actors who are contributing to the series, including Michael Rapaport, John Di Maggio, and Alanna Ubach, just as Pound Puppies gets ready to air two all-new back-to-back episodes this Saturday morning, August 13, at 9:00 am Est (6:00 am Pst).

10 Reasons To Love . . . Ryan Reynolds

6 August 2011 6:58 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

So I have a list of five or so actors who are so charismatic, so effortlessly likeable, so charmingly cool, that I would watch any dross that they appear in. Sadly, most of those actors appear almost exclusively in dross but its always a pleasure regardless.

In my debut 10 Reasons To Love . . . article we covered my first cinematic man-crush – The Cuse. A man who’s been lucky enough (or clever enough) to land himself a bevy of interesting and varied roles. Well now we come to the second in my personal favourites and sadly it’s rather difficult to collect together 10 quality titles he’s been involved with, but I can safely say that if you’re willing to disband your pre-conceptions, throw out your regulating taste buds, and allow a little joy into your heart then you’ll find plenty to love in my top picks to represent the »

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 7 Sneak Preview

12 July 2011 10:46 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There is a giant crucified Jesus hanging in Paddy's Irish Pub. Charlie (Charlie Day) thinks it's too big. Mac (Rob McElhenney), on the other hand, doesn't think it's big enough. He wants every patron's eyes drawn to it. It should be a part of every conversation. It should consume the room. "Okay," Charlie reluctantly agrees, "But no more blood, okay?"

Mac has spent the better part of the afternoon splashing down Jesus' porcelain white skin with red paint in preparation for Diandra's (Kaitlin Olson) Baby Funeral. There is something different about Mac. He has gained fifty pounds since we last saw him. He is huge. But the decorations in Paddy's prove to be a distraction from his own personal health issues. There are a number of folded chairs set up in front of a pulpit. One or two crusty regulars sip beer and wait for the upcoming memorial service that »

Magnet to Distribute Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil

8 June 2011 6:40 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil was one of my favorite films up at the Sundance Film Festival back when I saw it in 2010. I'm shocked that it took this long to get distribution, because the film is hilariously awesome! I've been looking forward to seeing it again, and finally I will be able to enjoy it for a second time, and many of you will be able to enjoy it for a first. The horror comedy was written and directed by Eli Craig, and it stars Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine who were freakin' awesome. you can read my review for the film here.

Magnet has announced that they will distribute the film at the end of this summer, it will be released on VOD on August 26 and get a limited theatrical release on September 30th. This is a movie you definitley want to see.

Here's the plot summary:

‘Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil’ Finally Gets a Distributor – What The Hell Took So Long?

8 June 2011 4:40 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

One of our favourite films of 2011 was Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, Eli Craig’s twisted throwback to backwoods horror that put everything in reverse. I wrote a raving review and we all said great things about it in episode 219 of the Sound On Sight podcast. Simon also had a chance to interview with Craig and the film’s two lead star Alan Tudyk (Serenity) and Tyler Labine (Reaper). Now almost a year later, Magnet Releasing has announced they have acquired the Us Rights to the film. I posted the trailer below but I strongly recommend you don’t watch it since it is extremely spoiler heavy. Here is the full press release.

Magnet to Distribute ‘Tucker & Dale Versus Evil’

8 June 2011 2:56 PM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Tucker & Dale Vs Evil premiered at Sundance 2010, and despite earning a lot of fans with the performances of Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine and the comedy and horror mix that writer/director Eli Craig offered up, the film has been in distribution limbo ever since. That changes now, as Magnet has announced that it will distribute the film at the end of this summer, with an August 26 VOD bow and a September 30 theatrical opening. Full plot info (via the press release) is after the break along with an early trailer. We'll give you whatever trailer Magnet concocts as soon as it is available. Here's the trailer, but be warned that it is more of a sales trailer than anything else. As such, it gives a lot away. Some viewers will likely consider it very spoilerish. Hugh Jackman sings Richard Marx, discusses ripped pants: Watch

5 May 2011 3:45 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Hugh Jackman is in the midst of a two-week concert run in San Francisco, and his musical coordinator, Richard Marx, has posted a video on YouTube that includes a clip of Jackman singing “Right Here Waiting.” As someone who saw Jackman receive 28 catcalls in one night onstage in Broadway’s The Boy From Oz (yes, I counted), I enjoy that we hear one during a musical interlude. The Jackman stuff starts at 2:40 in the video below. Jackman and Marx then joke around backstage. “Well, here we are backstage with the one and only Ryan Reynolds,” Marx says. They talk »

Anna Kendrick & John Francis Daley Join Rapture-Palooza

4 May 2011 1:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Anna Kendrick (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and John Francis Daley (Waiting) have signed on to star in Rapture-Palooza.

Kendrick and Daley will star opposite Craig Robinson (Pineapple Express) in the post-apocalyptic comedy from Lionsgate’s new micro-budgeted production initiative.

Rapture-Palooze, penned by Chris Matheson (Imagine That), is a comedic look at life after the fallout of a religious apocalypse, and can best be described as a cross between Zombieland and The Big Lebowski.

Commercial director Paul Middleditch (Separation City) will direct.

Kendrick will be seen next in cancer comedy 50/50, while Daley has a role in the ensemble comedy Horrible Bosses.

Anna Faris Sells Her 'Stalker' Story

16 April 2011 9:09 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

I've always thought Anna Faris is a very underrated comedic actress. She helped make the Scary Movie franchise extremely successful, especially when spoof movies can be... very hit and miss (interesting tidbit, Scary Movie actuallly out-performed Scream in the box office). Her scenes in Waiting... were great, especially her back and forth with Ryan Reynolds. And now she's finally getting more recognition.

[DVD Review] Still Waiting...

4 April 2011 7:00 AM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

The one thing 2005’s Waiting… did right was figuring out that people will watch a movie if you put Ryan Reynolds’s face on it. They caught him just before his career took off and studios considered him viable as a leading man for film. What Waiting… did wrong was everything else. It wanted to be for waiters what Clerks was for convenient store employees and what Super Troopers was for highway patrol officers. It wasn’t. It isn’t. The jokes didn’t take and the director never got the knack of comedic timing. At first it seems there’s a chance for its direct-to-dvd sequel as Jeff Balis took over as the director, though Rob McKittrick is still responsible for the writing. Consequently, Still Waiting… delivers a few meager laughs, but it’s still a flop in the comedy genre.

The sequel goes back to Shenaniganz where the »

Twitter rumors got a little out of control this week as people started thinking that Jackie Chan had died. Evan Dorkin joined the collective sigh of relief, however, when everyone started verifying that "Spy Next Door" and "Rush Hour" star was still alive and well.

Both Bryan Lee O'Malley and David Willis shared their feelings on the franchise's latest update, and you'll find them retweeted down below along with Brian Reed's hopes for "Mad Men" Season 5 and a dream tweet from Matt Fraction.

UTA Signs Dane Cook

5 January 2011 11:42 AM, PST | Deadline New York | See recent Deadline New York news »

The agency will book his arena-filling stand-up comedy tours, but Dane Cook signed with UTA to boost his acting career. He was already set to make his Broadway debut this spring in Neil Labute's Fat Pig, alongside Julia Stiles and Josh Hamilton, and he was just booked to guest star in an episode of CBS's Hawaii 5-0, playing Scott Caan's brother. Cook has been in such films as Dan in Real Life, Good Luck Chuck, Waiting and Mr. Brooks, but hasn't yet been able to duplicate his stand up success onscreen. Cook left CAA late last year, and continues to be managed by New Wave Entertainment's Barry Katz. He certainly doesn't need help on the stand up part of his repertoire, where's a cash machine. He just completed an arena tour last month, and released his sixth album, I Did My Best--Greatest Hits. He's always near or »
