A couple of years ago Mark Steilen (The Settlement) was attached to write the script for a New Line comedy project called Tag based on the Wall Street Journal article "It Takes Planning, Caution to Avoid Being 'It'", but now Variety has learned that Waiting scribe and director Rob McKittrick has been hired compose the screenplay. For as much as Jack Black and Will Ferrell have been seen in some of the same movies, they've never really shared anything other than a short moment in any of their films. Well that all looked like it was about to change in 2013 when Tag Brothers was first announced over at New Line. Two years later, it looks like the stars are finally aligning for the two comedy titans to face off with two other adversaries in the still active project, as a scribe has been hired! So who's ready for a game of Tag at the film's writer's desk? None other than Waiting's Rob McKittrick! Variety broke the news that the man who started his career ripping on the service industry has turned his focus on this comedy concept that sprang forth from a Wall Street Journal article. The piece detailed a group »
Todd Garner and his Broken Road banner are attached to produce. In 2013, New Line won a bidding war for the movie rights to a Wall Street Journal article titled “Tag Brothers” centering on 10 classmates from a Spokane, Wash., prep school who, now in their 40s, play an elaborate game of tag for one month every year.
McKittrick originally broke in Hollywood with his film “Waiting,” which he directed from his own script, and has worked on several other New Line projects including “Work Wife” with Joe Swanberg attached to direct, “Mancrush” and “Catfight.”
He’s repped by Paradigm, Dmg Entertainment and attorney Jeff Frankel. »

Joe Swanberg is continuing his ascension from making movies with friends, to making movies with celebrities, and now making movies with a major studio. The filmmaker has signed up to helm "Work Wife" for New Line. Rob McKittrick (“Waiting…”) wrote the latest draft of the script that "follows a pair of thirty-something lawyers who attempt to find out if they really can date a co-worker." No word yet on when it will shoot. [The Wrap] Lee Toland Krieger is another movie maker shifting gears. He's done drama ("The Vicious Kind"), romantic comedy ("Celeste And Jesse Forever"), romantic fantasy (the forthcoming "Age Of Adaline"), and now he's going into action-thriller mode with "Vanish Man." It will follow "a man who helps people escape their troubled lives by staging elaborate deaths and creating new identities. He finds himself enlisted by the FBI to track down the one client that was not supposed to disappear. »

Once upon a time, Ryan Reynolds was one of the most sought after leading men in film. A former People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” and the star of one of the funniest comedies ever made (I’m looking at you, Waiting) Ryan Reynolds has unfortunately spent the last five years acting in box office bombs and selecting some ill-advised roles. Ryan Reynolds is a very, very handsome man and it seems as though audiences have gotten so fixated on his appearance, that they’ve forgotten that he’s a talented actor. Well, The Voices is going to indefinitely change the way audiences view Reynolds. Critics and cinephiles all declared 2014 the year of the “McConaissance” in relation to the brilliance coming out of Matthew McConaughey, and 2015 is starting to look like the year of Reynolds.
