The Chowfasta Market seen in this film was originally built in 1890. The 1920 date above the name over the entrance is when that addition to the market was constructed. The entire building was demolished and rebuilt to more modern standards in 1961.
The Snake Temple seen in this film was built in 1805. As of 2021 it is still intact and still has pit viper snakes, but they have been devenomized and thus rendered non-poisonous.
The poetry FitzPatrick reads at the end of the film is taken from "The Sea Gypsy" by American poet Richard Hovey (1864-1900).
