Bing on CBS television
bkoganbing1 February 2016
Bing Crosby finally made it to television with this special which seems to be a pilot of many more to come. I think Bing did not have a regular TV series because it was too much work. Even though radio was changing in its mission, Bing kept working in it recording 15 minute daily broadcasts until the early 60s. I remember hearing them on the car radio when I was a kid. On radio Crosby used to record a few weeks worth of broadcasts so he could do other things, movies, golf, etc. TV was more demanding on his time.

Still on this show he was the Crosby that we all knew and loved on radio. A man who made the successful transition from weekly radio to weekly television Jack Benny is Bing's guest along with Sheree North as Benny's girlfriend. Must have been a shock to Mary Livingstone.

The show was broadcast on CBS which was his original radio network. Bing sang some nice songs which he had also recorded at the same time like Y'All Come and Change Partners.

A real treat for us Crosby fans.
