Tragedy before responsibility
lastliberal6 April 2008
Just as seen in The Kite Runner, a tragedy has to occur before responsibility is accepted.

I would not have given this film a glance were it not for the fact that Cynda Williams got star billing. It is definitely for those who are fans only.

In what is probably a common occurrence, she becomes pregnant and her boyfriend/lover/partner Mushond Lee (2001 Maniacs) is reluctant to accept full responsibility and marry her.

He spends his time with his group of four friends, while she is with her group. Some may feel that Cynda's friends are part of the problem, as they are telling her to force the issue, but the male group is just as bad. They may be questioning when he is going to marry, but their behavior suggests that conquests of women is the sole goal in life.

Sure, things may end up in the right way, but not before the issue is forced with a huge tragedy. It was if fate seemed to push one into a right decision.

The one thing that spoiled what was a fair look at the sexes, was the presence of the typical black stereotypical drunk that just went on for too too long.

Soundtrack

I liked it, I thought it was funny. And said some truth to it. But then again just about every movie has some truth in its name. Especially how Shari was dealing with a pregnancy, and a boyfriend who refused to get married because of being terrified which is really understandable. The relationship between the guys was really strange and amazing. Having that one friend that knows how to push someones buttons until they snap. We all have friends like that. But i have a question, do you know the song that was playing during the scene of Gregory's funeral? it really caught my attention and i want that song now. Any possible way of finding out the name of that song for me? thanks.

Me....not so good.

Robert Hightower's seemingly perfect life is turned upside down when his girlfriend announces that she is pregnant and pressures him to get married.

When the friends and family get together, it's a battle of the sexes like no other!

This group learns all about life in this sexy, hysterical story of friendship, love and life-altering experiences.

Very slow exposition.

Poorly directed. Very poorly acted.

It's really not worth the time or effort

Enjoyed This Movie

ENJOYED THIS MOVIE

I'd never heard of this movie when I picked it up in DVD shop so I took a chance and bought it. That was 6.50 euro well spent because I was not disappointed. This movie is funny at times, sad at times, thought-provoking at times, but entertaining at all times. Anyhoo, I turned my ringer off so I wouldn't be disturbed. If you like "30 Years To Life" you'll like this movie too. The main reason I like this movie is because the characters are so real: the drunk who puts somebody on blast at the family gathering, the "Oreo" friend (black on the outside, white on the inside), the "Ms. Independent I Don't Need No Man I Got Dental Benefits and my own business" female, the angry one who has that inner turmoil but is taking it out on everybody else, the so- called "Mack" who fronts like he's "The Man" when he's really on lock, the "We need to take this relationship to another level" one,(marriage) and the loud sister, the one who keeps the party going no matter what (Wendy Raquel Robinson). The only thing I didn't like about this movie is that in some scenes women were referred to as "b-----s" and "h--s." Anyway, Guy Torry is an outstanding actor, he acted his heiny off in this one. His character is the one that stood out. But don't take my word for it, take a chance like I did and see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Song Title
kmcrenshaw-113 May 2008
The name of the song is You're Gone performed by "L" and written by Lawrence Young. I have yet to find it, but will post where it can be found once I do. I thought the whole soundtrack was really good. I just wish they would make it easier for us to find the songs and download them. I have never heard of "L", but he performs a few of the songs on the soundtrack. I have also searched under Lawrence Young, but have yet to come up with anything. So if anyone out there can find it, please let me know. The movie itself was pretty good. I thought it deals with things that are real and that people do go through this type of stuff. I would recommend this movie although it was not a box office hit, but sometimes these straight to DVD movies are better than what's in the theater.
