Final Starrcade under the JCP banner.
Aired Thanksgiving night, the same night as Survivor Series (1987). Vince McMahon told the PPV companies of the time that they could carry either Survivor Series or Starrcade. Most chose Survivor Series. The companies then told both promotions never to try a stunt like that again.
Universal Wrestling Federation promoter "Cowboy" Bill Watts had sold the promotion to National Wrestling Alliance promoter Jim Crockett Jr. in July 1987, and this show was Crockett burying the UWF. NWA World Television Champion Nikita Koloff defeated UWF Television Champion Terry Taylor to unify the titles. UWF World Heavyweight Champion "Dr. Death" Steve Williams defeated Barry Windham, and the title was retired in December. The UWF World Tag Team Champions The Sheepherders (Butch Miller and Luke Williams (Brian Wickens)) weren't even on the show. In 1999, Dusty Rhodes said in a shoot interview that he was too focused on Vince McMahon to have seen the value of the UWF guys.
