Outcry against the Cultural Revolution, 6 April 2004
Author: zzmale

The literal translation of the title of this movie is: The outcry from the bottom of the heart.

On the surface, this movie simply describes the tragedy endured by the two families. However, there is a hidden message behind the scene of this movie made in the early era of the Chinese reform: The families actually symbolize the entire Chinese society, and the tragedy symbolize the devastating Cultural Revolution, as well as other political movements, and the dead family members symbolize the countless innocent victims who perished in the successive political movements. This is a critic work of the Cultural Revolution.
