You have got to be kidding me!, 16 November 2007

I am so ashamed. I admit that I tuned into this to see Paris Hilton. To see her, I had to endure 91 minutes of the most juvenile dialog that I have ever experienced. 45 minutes was used to repeat "fuck" over and over. The rest of the time was lame 13-year-old comments about "how big a pussy you are, man." The only remotely funny bit was the story of "Monster Head." Paris, I am so over you now. This was it. I swear to all that is holy that I will never again subject myself to seeing any moving that you appear in - not even "1 Night in Paris." Go play with the elephants or something. You are ancient history.

Can you believe that someone had the nerve to compare this to Pulp Fiction and A Clockwork Orange? That is the ultimate in creative marketing. They should be shot!

I must admit i only watched the movie because of Paris Hilton and didn't knew one thing about the movie not even one thing, well only that Paris was in it. And God! This movie was awful on all levels, it didn't had just one good thing about it (except well, it has some very good looking guys). The acting was awful from almost everybody (except maybe one or two) and Paris acting here was awful, so....hollow! She was better in House of wax. The movie basically didn't have any storyline and sometimes it went nowhere. The cinematography was very poor and the camera shot were very cheap. The script was so bad, and very repetitive. It had tons of scenes with the guys partying, killing people, fighting but didn't lead anywhere. The ending came out of nowhere and it was too abrupt. You didn't really care about these characters (i know i didn't). The music/score well did it have any? because i surely don't remember. All in all the movie tried too hard to be good but the horrible acting, no storyline, stupid scenes, unlikable characters, and terrible directing made it worse! Its not even a bit fun. I give it a 1 only because i thought the guys were hot and i know this may sound superficial but it was the only good thing i could found about it.

Rich Kids can be Gangstaz too....., 7 September 2006

First of all, let me say that I have debated watching this film for some time, and being a lover of horror, and blood dripping splatter flicks (even the terrible ones) i thought this film had something to do about The Hills Have Eyes. I read the preview and thought, well, its about Spoiled Rich Kids (unfit to live), and it stars Paris Hilton(again, unfit to live.) These are just my opinions. If Paris is reading this, i guess you can say I'm hateful of the rich and pseudo famous (mayby jealous of people who have been given life on a silver platter, or famous because of money, but thats life). So sorry Paris, the only roles it seems your capable of is on your back, or face buried in a pillow. Again, I'm no professional Movie Critic.

But, alas i stray from the subject. OK, this film is terrible. It has predictable characters, the Wannbe Thug, his short Lackey, the Nice Guy and the Sports guy. I forgot what the sports guys name was , but as an actor, my dog can better feign a difficult bowel movement, than this actor can feign emotion. I can feign a better bowel movement for that matter.

So unless you really care about how the Spoiled Rich kids party, and adopt pseudo-gangSTA ways, don't touch this one.Keep moving.

If you are hell bent on seeing this movie, I would say it requires some preparation. First of all, buy yourself a six pack of Natty Ice, or Meisterbrau( the worst, cheapest beers ever, and if you are watching this movie, you have no money to do anything fun) or even Keystone, and shotgun or slam the first 3 or 4 beers. You will want something to drink during the movie.

After you are finished watching it, say nothing and punch yourself in the face, for having wasted your life on it. You'll thank me in the morning.

Watch Menace to Society instead, OR American Me. They are by far MUUCH better than this movie, in fact I have done them a disservice by including their names in this review.

this movie was terrible. the acting was terrible and so was the plot. it was about bunch of posers living the life in the suburbs and then starting a gang. In the movie the gang leader would just go around shooting everything in sight just because he felt like it. Paris Hilton was really hot in the movie, that was the only good thing. I kept watching it think you would see her naked or something but no dice. So I just downloaded a night in Paris which also sucked but at least you still saw her naked. To tell you the truth I never even finished the movie, i wanted to but I just couldn't do it. It was just so bad. I don't think the movie even deserved a star but I had to give them some credit for trying. All I can hope for is that the actors in this movie never act again.

1 star for... participation?, 21 September 2008

Author: kipluck from Orem, UT

I was SO bored on a Sunday afternoon. That is my only excuse for watching this horrid movie. I am not the type of person that would pick it up in Blockbuster, I swear. But it was on, and nothing else was so I watched The Hillz.

The acting was terrible, which was particularly sad considering the script seemed SO bad a 4th grader could have memorized it. However, one would hope a 4th grader would not *say* that much profanity. It is hard to give this waste of time even 1 star out of 10, but there is no zero option. I suppose the 1 is given for participation. Camera guy, you get a star for putting film in the camera! (Wish you hadn't, though.) Paris and other actors (using the term *loosely* here), way to go! You showed up for filming! *sigh*

I was bored on a Sunday afternoon. I watched the Hillz. Now I am *more* bored. I think I may watch one of my little brother's high school plays my dad recorded on the family camcorder. Better acting, filming, etc.

I Thought Everybody Was Being Unfair, 29 June 2008

Seeing as how this was in the Bottom 100, I assumed it was because Paris Hilton was in it, and many people don't like her, so everyone who watched it went ahead and gave it a low rating. After I was through watching it myself, WHOA.Now I see what all the fuss is about. This was a TERRIBLE movie!!!!No one, and I mean not one single soul, could act if their life depended on it, and I actually felt pain from watching some of the acting in this movie. The script was so ridiculous and ludicrous altogether , and some of the dialogue was simply atrocious.Overall, there was nothing good about this movie, and if you haven't seen it, you need to avoid for as long as possible.

A film for obnoxious hipsters, 3 November 2009
1/10
Author: planktonrules from Bradenton, Florida

This film handicaps itself in the very first scene. A group of very, very obnoxious and heartless rich kids enter a liquor store and start berating the guy who works there by throwing out racial slurs, stealing and acting threatening towards him. So, you now hate the leading character and his friends--good job, folks!! I can't speak for everyone, but usually hating the characters is BAD because you turn off your viewers and destroy any connection they might make with them. There are, of course, a few exceptions. If you did a film about Hitler or a serial killer, you certainly wouldn't normally want to set off creating empathy for them--otherwise, it sure makes it tough to stick with the film. And, if that isn't enough, the producer decided to cast Paris Hilton in a major role...'nuff said! Talk about alienating everyone but self-involved hipsters! Sadly, while I thought this was just a bad opening scene, it turned out that this WAS the film. Seeing the lives of a bunch of obnoxious privileged punks isn't my idea of fun--nor is it anyone's unless they, too, are basically shallow and stupid jerks. And, if this film represents the average American teen, then boy is our country screwed!! Crude, ugly and worthless. Don't waste your time. Even staring at vomit is more interesting and worthwhile than this nasty film--the acting is terrible, the script awful and the film is an artless and crude mess.

Barnun better be on the Hollywood blacklist, 26 November 2007

I rented this film (a move I will forever regret) and watched the director's commentary (a memory I will try to suppress), which gave me the opportunity of getting to know the director of this sh!tstorm: the talentless, pompous Saran Barnun, who has the gall to compare "tHe HiLlzzz" to Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange". Saran grew up in the Hollywood Hills, and no doubt has a long list of affluent connections from mommy and daddy willing to cough up doe for his little project (this also explains how Paris Hilton got attached.) Listening to the commentary, it becomes evident that Bardun is a spoiled Hollywood brat, a Neanderthal, oblivious to what a good film is and the dedication and TALENT required to make one. I strongly believe that the international film making community should do everything in its power to stop this hack from ever again producing, directing, or writing a film.

it ain't always quite in the hills, 12 June 2005

"The Hillz" is a film about a bunch of 4 teenagers being bored in the rich suburbs of L.A. . One of them is a drafted baseball player that just wants out but stays because he is respected. The other is the son of a rich and powerful lawyer and is the most reluctant of the gang the third is an average kid who's complex ed by his height and the fourth Duff is what we call a social case a kid with problems with authority and a big thirst for power and recognition. The movie takes us into their decent from some annoying but generally harmless kids to cold ruthless gang members and drug dealers. And like any other fast rising criminals what comes up must come down and with the same speed but on the way down they pay the cost of being disrespectful, their lives. I think it was a good movie though it was shot in a low quality film ,i think VHS, that gives a cheap feeling to it.There were some continuity gaps and the acting wasn't top notch but was intrigued me was the story of how rich kids from the burbs are bored and how they find entertainment in drugs and violence + the narration was quite good.It isn't a masterpiece but i would like to see it remade with more experienced actors and better directing and maybe enhancing in the personality of all the characters.

Look Past The Lack Of Experience To The Potential, 15 January 2007
Author: Mermaidbronze from Atlanta, Georgia

Wow, I had the opposite reaction to this film. I expected to see rehashed, politically correct, moralizing garbage was pleasantly surprised to see a high-impact, kinetic film, with a satisfying story, acted by amateurs with a break out potential. Most Hollywood films today leave me unsatisfied because of the Peacenik Liberal bias. What should happen doesn't, and nobody get whats coming to them. I am sick to death of simpering films made by aged Commie Hippies. It makes me crave films like "Death Wish". I'm not sure if this was an Indie or studio film but it was every bit as good as some was the critically acclaimed Indies like "Thirteen", "Havoc", "Bully", and "Kids". I can't applaud Rene Heger "Duff" enough. First of all, the kid is gorgeous. He has Brad Pitt looks and Adrien Brody talent. This kid is Stella Adler trained and shows a raw, mean masculinity that reminds me of Paul Newman in "Hud". Mark my words, if he doesn't die young like River Phoenix, he will be a huge star. Heger is the next DiCaprio, only more mannish. Jesse Woodrow "Steve 5" also gave a fantastic performance and voice over. The rapport between these two young actors was believable and moving. As for Paris, it was her best so far. Thats not saying much since all her other stuff is so bad, but at least she is no longer unwatchable. She'll grow, get better, and learn to stop being "Paris Hilton" when she is supposed to be portraying a character.
