Trivia:
Because of extensive last-minute streamlining by producer Jerry Wald, this may have been the only Academy Awards Ceremony to actually end earlier then scheduled, by almost twenty minutes. As co-host Jerry Lewis and several other Hollywood notables hopelessly tried everything they could think of to improvise through the extra time, NBC cut the broadcast short to air a short film about target shooting to fill-in until the next program (the local news, in most areas) aired. more
