Storyline

Ravi Shankar lives in a shabby hotel room belonging to the owner of the Hotel "Allah Belli", Sheikhu Dada. Ravi studies in college and pays his rent and living expenses through money-orders sent to him from his dad. After Ravi's dad passes away, Sheikhu initially asks him to leave the room, but then decides to pay for the remainder of his education so as to recover all monies when Ravi gets a job. Ravi does get through successfully, and Sheikhu even arranges for a job with a wealthy businessman named Jagannath Gupta. Ravi and Jagannath's daughter, Sonia, fall in love and get married, and soon Sonia gets pregnant. Jagannath and Sonia are unhappy with Sheikhu's involvement with their family, and conspire to put an end to Ravi and Sheikhu's relationship. The question remains, will Ravi be willing to put an end with his relationship with his gruff mentor, or will he put in a position when he has to make a choice between Sonia and Sheikhu? Far, far away from being a 'gem'.
6 March 2016 | by (Czech Republic) – See all my reviews

A series of films produced under the YRF banner, including "Sawaal', "Faasle", "Noorie" and "Mashaal" were all huge flops, just like "Nakhuda". The plot was conceived to aim to be an offbeat movie. However, the actors do not help this to happen. Nor does the shoddy direction by the débutant Dilip Naik. The cast consists of Raj Kiran, Swaroop Sampat and Kulbushan Kharbanda. As much as Kulbushan's performance shines throughout the movie, the job by the rest of the cast emits the same dullness. The soundtrack album is strictly below average, "Tumhari Palkon Ki Chilmanon Mein" being the only memorable track. It was not a great idea to have an aging overweight Asha Sachdev to perform a delicate Mujra number called "Tujhe Maroongi Phoolon Ki Maar". It failed miserably.

All in all, it's best to keep this 'gem' remain unnoticed but might garner the interests of serious Yash Raj aficionados.

VERDICT :- avoid.
