  • Continuity: At the roller rink, when Lee and Selby are about to kiss, Selby's hands move from Lee's shoulder to her bicep several times between shots.

  • Continuity: When Lee and Selby are in the red car, and Lee is talking about her childhood, Lee's cigarette alternates from short to long and back between shots.

  • Anachronisms: At the beginning of the film, Lee is sitting under an overpass of a major Interstate. The film is set in the 1980s, but many of the cars passing by are newer than that.

  • Anachronisms: The taxi that drops off Selby when she picks up her clothes is a 1993 Crown Victoria

  • Continuity: After Aileen kills the first john, she stands over his body with her underwear around her knees. The shot switches to the dead man on the ground, then back to Aileen, with her underwear and pants all the way up.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Selby and Aileen are sitting against the wall outside the bus station, Selby's boots are brand new, with no dirt on the bottom of them.

  • Anachronisms: In the end of the film, when Aileen is sitting under the overpass along the interstate, you can see a late model Lynx bus, part of Central Florida's public transit system. Lynx didn't exist in the '80s.

  • Anachronisms: An early shot shows the The Daytona Beach pedestrian walkway bridge, which was completed in 2002.

  • Revealing mistakes: As Aileen and the first john are driving into the woods, you can see in the back window that the car is just bouncing up and down. In the next shot, trees are passing, which means they are moving.

  • Continuity: Flipped shot: When Aileen and Selby are about to kiss at the roller rink, Selby's cast moves to her left arm in one shot.

  • Continuity: Right after they crash the red Grand Am, the rear plate is 34516C. When Aileen takes the plate off the car, it is DZB 86R.

  • Factual errors: The plate Aileen takes off the Grand Am has a light green Florida map and a yellow tax sticker. That combination was used in 1987. The scene takes place in 1990.

  • Anachronisms: Aileen and Selby crash a mid '90s Grand Am in 1990.

  • Continuity: After they crash the red Grand Am, one shot shows a branch from a shrub under the rear wheel. Just before they drive a small piece of wood is under the rear wheel. As they're running away, all of the shrub branches are under the rear bumper. Suddenly, the branches are upright.

  • Continuity: When they crash the Grand Am, the windshield wipers are on, then off, the on again between shots.

  • Continuity: After they crash the Red Grand Am, and Aileen yells at Selby to get out, the driver's-side window is not completely rolled down. It was completely rolled down before and after that.

  • Crew or equipment visible: Selby moves into the motel room, and Aileen tells her she quit hooking. When Aileen sits in the chair, you can see a large shadow cast across the set by an unseen crew member that moved.

  • Continuity: When they are sitting at the bus station, Aileen reaches into her jacket to give Selby some money. Selby's hand is on Aileen's knee. In the next shot, Aileen's legs have moved.

  • Continuity: When Aileen pushed Selby back into the Grand Am, Selby has a large tattoo on the small of her back. Earlier, when Aileen took off Selby's shirt in bed, Selby's back had no tattoo.

  • Anachronisms: Aileen's second victim drives a 1994 Mercury Cougar in 1990.

  • Continuity: While Donna comes into Selby's room and tells her about the job with her dad, the door is open wider in one shot than in the ones before or after it.

  • Continuity: Before Selby gets on the bus, Aileen zips her jacket up to the top. When Selby gets on the bus, the jacket is not zipped up to the top.

  • Continuity: When Aileen leaves the bus station, the bus drives about 30 feet past the building. In the next shot, when Aileen walks toward Selby, the bus is driving away again.

  • Continuity: When Aileen tells Selby about killing the cop, Selby says, "Keep it down." A jacket appears by the green suitcase, and the pleating on the drapes changes.

  • Continuity: After Selby returns from the gay bar, Aileen confronts her in the kitchen. Two loaves of bread are on the second shelf in the cabinet. In the next shot, with the camera behind Selby, there is nothing on the shelf. A purse is missing from the counter.

  • Continuity: When Aileen pushes the restaurant manager down, he knocks the table over on its side. In the next shot, when he gets up, the table is bouncing back upright.

  • Continuity: Aileen comes back to the motel and finds Selby cutting off her cast in the bathroom. A can of beer is on the dresser in front of the mirror, and the lamp on the table is on. When they leave the bathroom, the beer is gone and the light is off.

  • Continuity: When Selby is cutting off her cast in the motel room, the bathtub has a shower curtain. When Aileen is showering after killing her second victim, the shower has a glass door.

  • Continuity: When Aileen comes back to the motel and finds Selby cutting off her cast in the bathroom, the toilet paper roll on top of the toilet tank. Suddenly, it appears on its side.

  • Continuity: After the interview with the lawyer, Aileen and Selby are at a bar, and Aileen asks them to run a tab. They each have one beer bottle in front of them. Suddenly, they have 2 bottles in front of them.

  • Continuity: When Aileen sneaks into the self-storage place, the closeup shows no shadows at all on the wall the building. The long shot shows shadows on the wall. The sun appears very low on the horizon (around 6am) instead of around 10:00 am, when Selby went to church.

  • Continuity: When Aileen and Selby are outside, talking by the mailbox, the clouds in the sky behind Aileen change dramatically between shots.

  • Anachronisms: When Lee applies for a job, the application is briefly visible. One line says "e-mail address". The Internet existed in 1990, but e-mail wasn't available to the masses until later in the decade.

  • Continuity: When Aileen gets nabbed, the stains on her grey sweatshirt change noticeably several times.

  • Continuity: When Aileen tells Selby about her family and childhood, they are riding in a red 1993 Grand Am. When the car crashes, it is a 1988 Grand Am.

  • Continuity: The amusement park in the film is called "Fun World". However the logo "Fun Spot" is clearly visible on walls and the roller coaster.

  • Crew or equipment visible: After the red car crash, Aileen and Selby enter their bedroom. For a split second, you can see the boards lined up across the top of the set, where a real bedroom would have a ceiling.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Aileen meets Selby in the bar, a girl in the background gets taller as she walks between them. A platform was placed under the floor so Christina Ricci didn't look so short next to Charlize Theron.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Aileen fills out a job application, she writes her name as "Wournos, Lee C." The correct spelling is "Wuornos."

  • Continuity: In Daytona Beach, Aileen rides with a man in a red 1992-96 Buick LeSabre. The interior shot shows a completely different car.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In most of the movie, Selby has a huge cast on on her arm, but her shirts are tight in the arms. Her cast would never fit through the sleeves.

  • Factual errors: The postscript says Aileen Wuornos was executed after 12 years on Florida's Death Row. She was arrested January 9, 1991, sentenced to death January 31, 1992, and executed October 9, 2002. Even if you start at the date she was arrested, it adds up to 11 years and 9 months.

  • Anachronisms: When Selby returns to their house with groceries, the Food Guide Pyramid is visible on the back of a box. The pyramid was adopted in 1992.

  • Continuity: Selby wakes up to find Aileen cutting newspaper articles and placing them in a silver box. When Aileen sees Selby, she closes the box. For the rest of the scene, the box is open.

  • Anachronisms: The opportunistic and abusive policeman that stops Aileen on the sidewalk under the pretense of having received 'complaints' is driving a Ford Crown Victoria model released in the mid-1990s. This police vehicle did not exist any time before she was finally incarcerated for her killing spree.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the scene where Lee is talking to Selby on the phone, you can see her brown contact lens move, thus revealing her green eyes.

  • Continuity: When Aileen drops the gun off the bridge, she is crouched next to a double bridge pole on her left. The next shot from behind shows her centered between two bridge supports, with a double bridge pole on her right.
