Rear piece of jewel in Chinese movie industry, 8 April 2004
Author: zzmale

The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Older brother and Younger Sister Searching Treasures.

This movie is a very rare piece of jewel in the post-revolutionary era China because after the communist takeover, the Chinese movie industry was plagued with persecutions from waves of political movements, which resulted in killing the creativity that was necessary in the artistic and entertainment industries.

The reason why this piece of jewel was produced was because China was suffering from the disastrous Great Leap Forward movement launched by Mao and the regime was busy in controlling the widespread famine in the countryside and thus was too busy to keep the constant tight control at the time, and this allowed some fresh air in the Chinese movie industry and this film is one of such lucky break.
