Every interior location was a set, despite the budget of the sets being under $5,000. Most sets were acquired previously by the directors from working on advertisements, and taking the left-overs.

Most scenes were shot in only one or two takes due to the budget.
The film was entirely funded by the directors and their family and friends.
An hour into the film the gang goes back into town for supplies. The names of the stores are the names of the crew members, with the type of each store being a reference to their job:
This film is considered an "Ozploitation" (Australian exploitation) picture.
Over 600 liters of fake blood was used for special effects during filming.

The backup battery supply that powers the garage door during the escape in the van has the name "Spierigfilm" written on it - the name of the film's production company.

During the beginning of the film, the man that Rene speaks to has a name-tag that reads Marvin "Chip" Chipperson. When he is a zombie later in the film his name tag reads Marvin "Chip" Marvinson.
