Leprechaun in the Hood (2000) director Rob Spera was involved with this project in its early stages, and came up with two proposed storylines; one set in Venice Beach, and another set on an island during spring break. However, the positive reaction to the previous film resulted in the producers insisting that the film be again set in an inner city with a cast primarily made up of rappers. Not wanting to rehash the previous film, Spera left and was replaced by Steven Ayromlooi.
