Storyline

Lizzie Snodgrass, an unattractive lady of uncertain age, is betrothed to Michael Thomson, who has no affection for her, but who is terribly in need of the ready cash which she possesses. A short time after the engagement Michael is informed by a lawyer that he has inherited a large sum of money. At this information he is overcome with joy, as he can now break his engagement to Lizzie, having no need of her money. He calls on his fiancée and declares the engagement off. She having read in a paper that Michael has inherited money, knows immediately that is his reason for casting her off. Before they part, she vows a breach of promise suit will be started against him. A few days later, while walking on the street, Michael hearing a newsboy crying "Extra," purchases one and sees that he is being sued by Miss Snodgrass for $50,000. Looking up he sees Lizzie and the constable approaching him to serve the papers. Just here there is an exciting chase between the distracted man and Lizzie and ...
