They're going to attack in 12 hours. What the hell's going on with your class? What are you waiting for? So what if a dozen kids die, it doesn't matter! Fire a missile and blow up the whole damned island!

Not as much im[act as the first but top quality non-the-less
8 February 2004 | by See all my reviews

Although not as good as the original Battle Royale this film still manages to be solidly entertaining throughout (except a not so interesting part around the middle). The film also brings a new edge to the rules of the original, the irony of the children now being forced to work together instead of forced to fight eachother leads to some great scenes.

Battle Royale 2 also deals with more world widely known problems such as terrorism and american capitalism in a similarily satirical manner to the original battle royale. The children are forced to fight against the Wild 7, lead by Shuya from BR, after the wild 7 declared war on all adults. The children are sent by the governent after they declined they decleration, basically they force children to fight in order to p*** off Shuya.

My only complaint is, that despite the long interlude of flashbacks and emotional pasts in the middle, there is a lack of background knowledge or character development to the other memebers of Wild 7 (although you will probably recognise that the winner fromt he beginning of BR is in there with her doll and crazy smile).

I don't really want to say too much about the story but it's just something to be seen if you liked the first. I wasn't dissapointed at all with it. Sit back and enjoy, just don't expect it to be as good as the original.
