Fun Stuff

Trivia:
Matsumoto threatened to revoke his approval of this OAV when he discovered that one of the enemy ships was to be shaped like a Jewish Star of David. Matsumoto, who is against racial intolerance, couldn't condone a religious symbol being used as a villain's ship and demanded that the design be changed or he would derail the production. The matter was resolved amiably, and the ship's design was completely overhauled. more

good series, retelling of the Tadashi story, 20 May 2007
8/10
Author: morton grimp

Another recreation of the Captain Herlock story. Demons are possessing dead bodies and trying to reclaim Earth and the Universe. Tadashi Daiba's father is murdered, and he decides to join Herlock to avenge his father.

This was very good. I actually bought it mistakenly, thinking it was the original Captain Harlock series from the 70s. So, I was a bit disappointed. It retells the story of how Tadashi joins the Arcadia. In the original series, his father was killed by the Zetons. In this one, his father is killed by someone else, I won't spoil it. Harlock is dirtier in this series, less caring, more like a real pirate. The theme song at the end is funny, I can't tell what language it is. Sounds like English, but I have no clue what the lady is singing.

Well, this is recommended if you're a Matsumoto fan. But if you know where I can get the original 70's cartoon series, contact me.
