In a few weeks, The Hollywood News ventures off to Canada for our annual trip to the Toronto International Film Festival. There are many films playing there this year, but one of the ones I’m personally most excited about is Manhunt, the latest from legendary action filmmaker John Woo, one which is being billed as the ‘Return Of The Maestro’ – his return to the action movie genre. You can watch the first Manhunt movie trailer below.
The first Manhunt movie trailer has landed on to little fanfare, hence the reason I’ve decided to write about it. The minute-long promo is full of Woo goodness – including slo-mo, twin gun fury, circling Jet-skis, and many flying bullets. I just hope there are doves. This really does look to be a throw back to Woo’s films of the late 1980s and »

June 30, 2015 -- Affleck and Garner Announce Their Split
One day after their 10th anniversary, the pair released a joint statement announcing their intention to go their separate ways.
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the statement read. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

While they separated nearly two years ago, Ben Affleck's estranged wife, Jennifer Garner, has been instrumental in helping the Oscar-winning star get his life back on track after years of struggling with alcoholism.
Affleck took to Facebook on Tuesday to reveal that he'd completed treatment for alcohol addiction, and thanked his wife for her support, writing, "I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do."
Et is taking a look back at the couple's long relationship to see how Garner helped Affleck turn his life around.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film and TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)
From “School Ties” to “Live By Night” and this weekend’s “The Great Wall,” Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have each — for better and worse — left a considerable and ever-increasing footprint in the cultural landscape. But while the world is wide enough for both of them, our hearts are not. And so, we forced our panel of critics to choose: Ben Affleck or Matt Damon?
There can be only one.

It was news that concerned fans of the faltering Dceu when it was confirmed that Ben Affleck will no longer direct The Batman, which is still supposed to be released next year. This bad news about The Batman follows rumours that Justice League is a mess, as is Wonder Woman, and The Flash is getting a page-one re-write following the departure of its second director.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. »

A frequent topic within Lrm lately, which you've likely heard spill over onto the Los Fanboys Podcast (assuming you listen to it...which you should!!!!), is Ben Affleck's current career trajectory. We're all fans of his and I- in particular- have been very happy to see him return to the top of the mountain in the last seven years. I've been rooting for the guy since 1997 when Good Will Hunting came out and made him and Matt Damon household names. So no one was happier when he bounced back from being the butt of many a joke to suddenly being an artist that demands respect.
Remember, he started hot in 1997 and then, while Damon went for smaller, more intimate, character-driven movies, Affleck went big. He leapt from the indie darlings that brought him to prominence towards big-budget popcorn flicks like Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Paycheck, and Daredevil. And when he »

NBC has ordered its second drama pilot this season, giving a green light to For God And Country, a military drama from writer Dean Georgaris (Paycheck, ABC pilot Clementine), Keshet Studios and Universal TV. Written by Dean Georgaris, For God And Country is described as a heart pounding look into the complex world of our bravest military heroes who make personal sacrifices while executing the most challenging and dangerous missions behind enemy lines. The project fits… »
*Update: I've added some additional perspective at the end of this post, since some folks are having trouble reading between the lines of Affleck's latest remarks*
I've been saying it for months and months, and I'll say it again:
On the Los Fanboys Podcast, we've pointed out all of the bizarre back-and-forth news items we've heard regarding The Batman since its inception.
First it was a given that Ben Affleck was directing itThen he suddenly "agreed" to direct it long after the project had been green-litThen the film had a release window for when it would arrive in theaters: Fall of 2018That was then countered by Affleck by saying he wasn't paying attention to any kind of release date, and would not make the film until it was readyAffleck also then confirmed, and later denied, what the movie would »
