Storyline

"Uncle" Hezekiah Crabtree, known as the stingiest man in town, is seen in the country grocery store buying supplies. A group of farmers gathered around the ever-popular and notorious grocery store stove, snicker and cast insinuating remarks, "Aunt" Sophia Stringer, a prominent church worker of the village, takes up a collection from the men. She asks "Uncle" Hezekiah to contribute to the fund and is most emphatically denounced. Jed, Hezekiah's nephew, is in love with Susan. That afternoon Jed meets Professor Swengolly, the hypnotist, who is to give a performance at the town hall that evening. Jed earns two tickets to the show by putting up bill posters. That evening, Jed takes his sweetheart, Susan, to the show. The professor hypnotizes two or three in the audience, including Jed, and makes them go through screamingly funny antics.
