30 September 2014 7:44 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Here are some of the thrills and chills coming to your televisions this October. Please keep in mind that full schedules have not been announced everywhere yet, so we’ll be sure to update you guys with any additions to the calendar. All times listed are Et/Pt:

ABC Family’s 16th Annual 13 Nights Of Halloween Scares Up Fun Starting Oct. 19

18 September 2014 7:01 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

I have to admit that I’m a fan of ABC Family in general, and there aren’t many of their original shows that have let me down, but their holiday efforts are among my favorite television “events,” and it’s closing in on Halloween again. The 16th Annual 13 Nights of Halloween is starting in a month and a day, and you should make sure you have your calendar marked with all the opportunities.

It is slightly repetitive, and a little Tim Burton heavy (if there is such a thing for an event centered around Halloween), but the programming has become a real tradition, and there are three shows with Halloween specials, and a reality prank program in the mix. Plus, you’ve obviously got all your Halloween staples to enjoy, and a good mix of your favorites and new entries.

Disney Parks

As part of the 45th anniversary of Disney's The Haunted Mansion theme park attraction, they've released a set of limited edition prints for fans. I love the theme of the art and that the characters pay tribute to the paintings in the stretching room at the beginning of the attraction. Here are the details:

Starting Saturday, August 9, through October 31, Disneyland Food & Beverage gets in on the fun of the Haunted Mansion 45th anniversary at Disneyland park with some really fun collectibles. Start with these four charming prints on canvas: Minnie Mouse at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante; Mickey Mouse and pals at River Belle Terrace; Daisy Duck at Plaza Inn; and Goofy at French Market Restaurant.

The prints are just $5 with each single purchase of $30 or more (before tax). Supplies are super limited and available during regular operating hours.

‘Hellboy 3′ Not Looking Likely

14 July 2014 11:21 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

First he giveth and then he taketh away. Just a couple of weeks after delighting with the news of Pacific Rim 2, visionary director (as the trailers say) Guillermo Del Toro has been speaking on some of his upcoming projects including Disney’s The Haunted Mansion while simultaneously shooting down hopes for a trilogy concluding Hellboy 3. Del Toro  has been pushing the TV adaptation of his novel The Strain recently, which is one of the worst books I’ve read in recent years, while also getting us hyped for his horror tale Crimson Peak. Before jumping into the world of Pacific Rim yet again, he will reportedly deliver a low budget black and white film, and all this while developing Disney’s The Haunted Mansion.

While taking questions on  Reddit Ama, del Toro answered queries about completing his tke on Mike Mignola’s comic book creation.

Guillermo del Toro Gives ‘Haunted Mansion’ Movie Update

14 July 2014 10:09 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Haunted Mansion, inspired by Disney’s famous theme park attraction of the same name, is one of those projects that Guillermo del Toro has been enthusiastically talking about for years now – even though the potential movie has only seemed to have made limited progress since its announcement back at the 2010 International Comic-Con.

Over the weekend, the hard-working filmmaker participated in a Reddit Ama where he confirmed that he is still involved in developing the project - one that is attempting to finally climb over the hump that is “cracking the screenplay,” as they say. The Haunted Mansion ride was adopted to movie form over a decade ago, as a family-friendly vehicle starring Eddie Murphy; del Toro, no doubt, ...

Guillermo Del Toro Might Not Direct 'Haunted Mansion 3D'

11 July 2014 7:28 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Nearly four years ago, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro revealed that he is directing Haunted Mansion 3D for Walt Disney Pictures, although we haven't heard anything regarding the project since then. Of course, this is likely due to the fact that Guillermo del Toro is one of the busiest directors in town, with a number of projects in various stages of development including Pacific Rim 2, At the Mountains of Madness and his haunted house thriller Crimson Peak, not to mention The Strain TV series he created, which debuts this Sunday on FX.

The director held a Reddit Ama session early today in support of The Strain, where he offered an update on Haunted Mansion 3D's status, revealing that he is working on a new draft of the screenplay with two different writing teams, but they still have not fully cracked the story yet.

Check Out Some Rare Concept Sketches from Disney's Iconic Haunted Mansion Theme Park Ride

22 May 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

It is so cool to get a sneak peek into the inspirations that got the ball rolling on some of our favorite things. Disney is not regularly well-known for horror, but Disneyland, California is the home of perhaps the most oft visited haunted house on record, The Haunted Mansion.

In celebration of the D23 Disney Fanniversary Celebration roadshow and the 45th anniversary of The Haunted Mansion ride, Disney released four rarely seen concept drawings (probably done by Marc Davis, one of Walt Disney’s animators and Imagineers who also created rides such as It's a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean) that show early interior and exterior concepts for The Haunted Mansion.

Take a look at some of these classic sketches that would go on to become one of the most legendary amusement park rides ever!

Natty’s Top Five Mothers In Horror!

11 May 2014 1:41 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

We all love our mothers, and sometimes we make jokes about loving our friends’ mothers.  Especially able to be loved, are matriarchs in horror films. The bad ones make us appreciate the moms that we were given. Even if my mother didn’t understand my obsession with wanting to dress up like Kurt Cobain every day in Junior High, at least she wasn’t Margaret White. Of course, we will always carry a special place in our hearts for the amazing, heroic moms in horror films,  I can only hope to be so brave in case my son happens to encounters a killer doll, or gets taken to another dimension. Well, since it’s currently Mother’s day today, I thought I’d share a few moms, good or bad, in what I like to call my Top Five Mothers In Horror!!!

Theme park ride-based movies: Will 'It's a Small World After All' follow the trend?

23 April 2014 11:51 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Bad news: Walt Disney World ride “It’s a Small World” is reportedly getting its own movie. Good news: Uh…

“Small World” has a nice enough premise — ride a brightly colored boat through the world’s countries, learning about their cultures through cutesy animatronic puppets and song. But as for movie potential? We’re not so sure about that.

Disney has pioneered the movies-based-on-rides trend, and so far, Disney rides are the only theme park rides to ever be turned into films. And while its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has done surprisingly well, other ventures into ride-based movies »

Disney Planning ‘It’s a Small World’ Movie from ‘National Treasure’ Director

23 April 2014 8:27 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Walt Disney Pictures released two movies based on its theme park attractions in 2003; one of them, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, was an immense hit that gave rise to a billion-dollar franchise, while the other, The Haunted Mansion, was far less successful – critically and financially – but still grossed a tidy sum at the box office (over $180 million worldwide).

The Mouse House has since attempted multiple times to bring another of its popular theme park rides to the big screen, with It’s a Small World being the latest subject. Disney’s musical boat ride – accompanied by the famous Sherman Brothers’ tune that’s either charmingly or irritatingly ...

As we all know too well, Mrs. Doubtfire – the seminal Robin Williams-wearing-women’s-clothing comedy — has been officially given a sequel by Fox 2000. Both Williams and the original’s director, Chris Columbus, are on board in the same positions they held last time around. Screenwriter Bonnie Hunt, however, has been replaced with David Berenbaum, of Elf  fame (also Zoom, The Haunted Mansion and The Spiderwick Chronicles fame, which might seem a little less impressive). Mrs. Doubtfire Is Getting an Unnecessary Sequel

17 April 2014 6:00 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

I never thought that a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel would ever happen. This just seems like one of the most ridiculous sequel ideas ever, and the fact they are doing it makes no sense to me. Chris Columbus and star Robin Williams would return to make the film which is being written by the screenwriter of Elf, David Berenbaum

It's been 21 years since the first film was released, so why now? Apparently the sequel has been in the works since 2001, with Bonnie Hunt attached to write it. It went through several drafts and several other screenwriters. The project eventually died because Columbus and Williams never liked anything that they saw.

Now that Berenbaum is attached, there is a spark of hope for the talent. I loved Elf, but that was his best film. Since then he's gone downhill writing movies such as The Haunted Mansion, Zoom, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. So »

Robin Williams Is Returning for 'Mrs. Doubtfire' Sequel

16 April 2014 7:13 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fox 2000 is developing a sequel to the 1993 comedy hit Mrs. Doubtfire, with star Robin Williams and Chris Columbus attached to star and direct.

David Berenbaum (Elf) has signed on to write the screenplay, although no story details were revealed. This sequel has actually been in development since 2001, when actress/writer Bonnie Hunt signed on to write the script, but the project went through several rewrites and began to languish in development. The sequel has been inactive for years, mainly because both Robin Williams and Chris Columbus weren't interested in any of the rewrites, but they both sparked to David Berenbaum's story earlier this year and are currently attached.

Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Gabler are overseeing the sequel for Fox 2000. The original Mrs. Doubtfire, which earned nearly $220 million during its domestic theatrical run more than 20 years ago, centered on a struggling actor and divorced father (Robin Williams) who tries to »
