50 Influential Scream Queens: Part 1

27 October 2009 5:54 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Given man's unwavering fascination with woman, it's no surprise that the female star acts as the anchor to a dominant portion of horror pictures. I mean really, who wants to see a bare chested man tearin ass through the woods screaming at the top of his lungs while a bladed assailant nips at his heels? I don't - I know that much, although I'm certain there are plenty of men who would disagree (and that's okay with me, to each his own!). The simple fact remains however, women bring a unique appeal and certain sensual atmosphere to film that no man ever could. And it's not all about gratuitous T&A.

There's a comforting quality in the hands of the heroine; a fascinating maternal strength that, as a man I cannot genuinely relate to. I can however admire, and in many cases it's nearly impossible to not admire the lone »

Exclusive: Pinhead Reborn

3 February 2009 2:12 PM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Editor’s note: Last year, when longtime Hellraiser series makeup FX artist Gary J. Tunnicliffe learned that a remake of the 1987 Clive Barker classic was in the works (with Inside’s Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury at the helm, since replaced by MartyrsPascal Laugier), he grew pretty excited. However, some of this excitement turned to fear when he was told that the producers’ plans were for a very “different” take on the mythology and a very “different” Pinhead.

New Amityville Gets a Title: The Amityville Tapes

19 January 2009 7:32 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

What is it about that little house in Amityville that just keeps our genre coming back again, and again, and again? If this keeps up I'm just gonna lock myself away in that little red room I found ... wait a minute!

According to The Hollywood Reporter the lastest trip to haunted Long Island will be known as The Amityville Tapes and writing duties will be handled by Neal Marshall Stevens who also penned Th13teen Ghosts and Hellraiser: Deader.

The film will be going direct-to-video, and it is said that it will be ultilizing a multi-media approach in the same vein as the Sci-fi Channel's hit show, "Ghost Hunters".

Yeah. You don't have to say it. I know. Stick around for more as it comes.

What is on the Amityville Tapes ?

19 January 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Buried within a THR article announcing writer Neal Marshall Stevens' partnership with comic book entity Studio 407 (news we broken last May in this interview ) is a reference to a film project entitled Amityville Tapes . It appears this is the long-mooted sequel to 2005's The Amityville Horror and Stevens is attached to write it for MGM. It was revealed in September ( here ) that the studio was finally forging ahead with a follow-up that is said to take its cue from shows like Ghost Hunters . Insiders tell us the next chapter in the "Amityville" franchise has been a priority for company in the last few months. Stevens, in addition to his comic endeavors at Studio 407, also penned Thirteen Ghosts and Hellraiser: Deader , a spec script which was re-tooled to fit »

Thirteen Ghosts Writer Joins Studio 407

19 January 2009 1:58 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

In a reversal of what we normally report here on the site, THR got word that comic company Studio 407 has hired screenwriter Neal Marshall Stevens to pen two new comic series for them.

Studio 407 has been making news left and right since signing a first-look deal with Myriad Pictures, but I have to admit this is the first time we’ve seen news of a new comic series without mention of film potential, though I’m sure it’s inherent at this point. Stevens will be penning the futuristic action thriller Havoc Bridgade and a horror adventure title called Demon Squad.

The latter is the story of a team of professional demon fighters who are sent in to clean up messes the creatures create, like a suicide epidemic in a small town.

Stevens has been responsible for the Thirteen Ghosts, Hellraiser: Deader and upcoming Amityville Tapes screenplays. Not sure what that last one is, »

An interview with screenwriter Neal Marshall Stevens

18 January 2009 7:00 PM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Neal Marshall Stevens, screenwriter of the films Thirteen Ghosts and Hellraiser: Deader, has just inked a deal with comic book publisher Studio 407 to pen two comic series: the futuristic action thriller Havoc Brigade and a horror adventure story entitled Demon Squad. Back in Horrorwood, Neal is currently hard at work writing the latest Amityville sequel, The Amityville Tapes. Fangoria sat down with Stevens to ask a few questions about his upcoming series, and the differences between working in the comics industry versus the world of film...

Fangoria: So Neal, how did you get involved with Havoc Brigade, and with Studio-407?

Neal Marshall Stevens: I first met Alex Leung, the head of Studio-407, almost ten years ago, when he was working for New Line Cinema. He was looking for a writer to work on The Ring when it was initially set up there. Unfortunately, it didn't work out but »
