good televison remake, 24 November 2002

This is a good television remake of the play and movie. It was done by the Hallmark Hall of Fame and features a good performance by George Grizzard in the William Holden role as the director. It also features, of course, outstanding performances by Jason Robards and Shirley Knight, in the roles Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly played in the film. Robards is perhaps more vulnerable in his role, manipulative but less so than Crosby. Knight is excellent as always appearing more care worn and genuinely exhausted from her marriage to the alcoholic character played by Robards. All in all, an excellent remake of an excellent film with comparable performances.
