Goofs

In the scene where the cheerleaders do their first performance at a game in front of the school, some of the cheerleaders have earrings and necklaces on. In real cheerleading, it's against the rules to have any form of jewelry on. See more »

Quotes

Marni Potts: You're the towel girl. It's an honor.
Janice: How is it an honor?
Marni Potts: Well let's just say there is no towel girl, say Greg hoisted Tina up into a cupie, and there is no one to towel off his sweaty hands, Tina slips, Tina falls and lands on her spinal chord and spends the rest of her life doing watercolors with her teeth. Do you want that to happen?
Janice: I guess not.
Marni Potts: I didn't think so.

Bringing the world together . . . . one cheer at a time.
23 March 2009 | by (Edinburgh.) – See all my reviews

Remember when they made that TV show based on Clueless and replaced Alicia Silverstone with a really nice, bubbly lass who was personable enough but just NOT Alicia Silverstone? Well, this sequel suffers from that same problem. Anne Judson-Yager plays Whittier, a new girl at college who finds that when she joins the cheerleading squad she is supposed to change all of her ways, her manners and her friends. Incensed by this, she decides to start up a rival squad with an assorted group of dancers, sportsmen and women and actors. It's then up to the oddball "renegades" to show that they have what it takes in time for a crucial face-off with the established varsity squad.

Predictable, light and enjoyable, this movie only really suffers more when compared to the original. The cast features nobody memorable although the characters all manage to have one decent moment each. It's not that anybody is terrible, they're just not as good as those in the original film. The same applies to every aspect of the movie. Everything just feels that little bit inferior, including a script that skirts around the sharp edges of the original and then replaces those zingers with numerous dull lines that just don't provide the same entertainment value at all. There is some fun to be had, fortunately, and most of this comes from the moments with Whittie and her new squad practicing cheers alongside surprised sportsmen involved in games such as softball and croquet.

It's not a terrible movie, it's just as terribly safe as many sequels are.
