The literal translation of the title of this movie is: After the Rainstorm.
This movie made in the early era of the Chinese reform is one of the few movies that had a very good naming because the title was very symbolic. As a matter of fact, there probably would not be many Chinese movies that surpass this one.
This movie is a social criticism on the Cultural Revolution, which could be the equivalent rainstorm in the contemporary Chinese history. By depicting the characters' interpersonal relationships, some of which can also be described as stormy, this movie criticized the Cultural Revolution and the tragedy it caused.
