A Funny Movie
26 February 2005 | by (utah) – See all my reviews

Except for a disconcerting bit of excessive violence towards the beginning of this type of teen comedy movie, The Man of the House handles with delicacy the balance between an older man in the same house with a bunch of female teenagers. The generational gulf is well played and the level of emotional maturity actually creeps upwards a notch in this above average female teen comedy along with Tommy Lee Jones as the straight man. An entertaining, somewhat even tense, perhaps a tad unbalanced comedy, it provided both solid humor, the expected growing up is hard to do, and pushing the envelope of teen comedy in a qualitative positive way. Eight out of Ten Stars.
